Unpopular Fandom Opinions

This meme is going around my flist again, so here are some of my unpopular multi-fandom opinions:

1.) I long to punch Toni DiNozzo. The thought that NCIS might besetting up a relationship between him and Ziva (so I hear through the grapevine) makes me want to retch.

2.) Not only did I like Max, I think Jessica Alba is a good actress.

3.) I like Keira Knightly too.

4.) I liked Dollhouse but I'm sorry it was renewed.

5.) I think Spirit is both terribly unsexy and a horrible father.

6.) Star Trek Reboot is neither as progressive or as reactionary as you think it is.

7.) Aang trying to kiss Katara in EIP was problematic - but not unforgivably so. What was unforgivable was the way it never got mentioned again.

8.) I hate Sai/Karin. I can't even fully articulate way.

9.) 9>10 in Doctor Who

10.) I think the original FMA anime is better than the manga.

I am with you on 10. I tried reading the manga both before and after I saw the anime and just. Could not get into it at all.

Also, is Sai/Karin popular? I don't think I've ever come across it before. But then, I rarely seek out Naruto fanfiction anymore, so I have no idea what the current trends are.

There is a little bubble that is all Karin/Sai flail, flail and I'm like.... please, no. Don't do that to Sai.

May I ask why you think the pairing would be bad for Sai in particular? I'm completely unfamiliar with the pairing dynamics or how it's normally portrayed, so I'm kind of curious.

I say this as someone who loves Karin: the girl is deeply, deeply fucked up. She participated in human experimentation, thinks nothing of trying to rape her crush, and is obsessed with a boy who looks just like Sai.

Sai, on the other hand, is a young man who has been brainwashed so deeply he isn't sure of even his own emotions and is trying to learn how to be human, guided by books and observation.

In some ways, he's very child-like.

I wouldn't trust Karin with my pet betta fish.

When I was discussing Sai/Sakura with friends, the potential dark side of that pairing was brought up: that if Sakura is helping Sai become more human, she's in the perfect position to form him into whoever she wants, and to a certain extend I think he would go along with that. However, I believe Sakura has the moral integrity to refrain from doing so, and would help him find his own personality. The same can not be said for Karin.

Honestly, I haven't read a whole bunch of fic, so I'm not sure what the majority of fic writers are doing with this pairing, but those are my thoughts on it.

Ahhh, okay, yes, that makes sense.

*nods*

Karin needs someone who can take her shit and dish it right back - which is why I ship Karin/Suigetsu.
