Reply to this meme by yelling "Words!" and I will give you five words that remind me of you. Then post them in your LJ and explain what they mean to you. These are the words given to me by [livejournal.com profile] edenfalling :

feminism

This is such a big issue for me and infuses so much of my life that it's hard to know what to say about this. In short: I believe women are equal to men in both good and bad ways and that the differences between the sexes (which are 99% learned and culturally reinforced) does not have any bearing on what an individual can achieve.

I also think that if you (especially female you) think feminism is over you are not paying attention.

Naruto

Interestingly enough, after the last chapter, I'm pretty sure Naruto and I are broken up. Straw that broke the camel's back thing. (I think it's a sign when you read the latest chapter and then delete 11 icons that relate to said fandom). It also makes sense given that I'm fandom serially monogamous and quite frankly, it's been a year, which is close to unprecedented in my fandom attention span.

Prior to all this however, I've spent the last thirteen months ranting and bitching and going well okay, that was kinda cool and fixing Kishimoto's work via fanfic.

writing

This is my dream job. During the school breaks I write original fiction just about every day and am in the process of writing a novel. A vampire novel, with vampires that do not sparkle and kill people.

Tamora Pierce

Hands down, the most influential author in my life. I read Alanna at eight? Somewhere around there, which taught me what you did when people said you can't do something based on your sex: You dress up as a boy and do it anyway.

Oh, Alanna of Trebond and Olau and Pirate's Swoop, wherefor aren't thou so awesome?

(Incidentally, loving this series caused me to know EXACTLY what Eowyn was going to do, causing my mother to accuse me of reading ahead in Return of the King. My response: "Mom, they said she couldn't go to war because she's a girl! What else would she possibly do?"

women in fiction

See 'feminism' and 'writing.'  Personal taste-wise, I am all about the ladies.
