Let Me Tell You About My Best Friend...

[livejournal.com profile] fannish5 asks:

Name the five unlikeliest (but successful) canon friendships.

1.) Sokka & Zuko. Never in a million years would I have seen that coming.

2.) Sarah & Casey. The slow, almost behind the scenes build of their friendship - from interdepartmental rivalry to having each other's backs - is one of my favorite things about Chuck.

3.) HIMYM. I think just the show itself deserves a mentions, for writing a show about three couples (or two couples, one dude, and a mystery woman) and having each character have a friendship with all the other characters. It is truly a show about a group of friends.

4.) Black Star and Soul. I did not expect them to be BFFs, or to get the attentions their BFF-ness did.

5.) Sumire and the English journalist. They start out disliking each other (they were just too alike) and end up friends who look out for each other.

I sort of tried to ship Casey/Sarah in the beginning, but then Chuck/Sarah won me over, and honestly? I think Casey and Sarah being friends is MUCH more interesting than them having sexual tension.

*sighs happily* To think of it, Chuck is full of awesome friendships- the whole Bartowski family/Nerd Herd stuff.. Chuck&Casey, Captain Awesome&ANYONE.. I need third season now.

SAME HERE.

Even their rivalry with Kid was much, much less than what I expected, and I'm surprised that the three boys are pretty much bros-for-life in the next chapters.

This is very true. And another reason Soul Eater is great - it doesn't waste time with stupid rivalries.

THIS. Exactly. I really hate to break the awesome partnership with half-baked romance (espescially since Chuck/Sarah has all signs of being the series couple).

Oh, third season- Josh Schwartz, come on.

Agreed oh so much. After Naruto's epic-but-not-really saga, I don't think I can handle another one of those male rivalries of the hero/antihero or whatever.

I have no trouble saying 'hell no' to the canon couple if I don't like it, but I DO like Chuck/Sarah, and there isn't anyone I'd rather see them with.
