First of all, I'm going to say straight up that I do not feel qualified to answer this. I don't think I know enough about the problems and how kids learn to be sure of my opinions. That said, I'm going to crib from my highschool/alternative program teacher, and say the first time I would do would be to make a high school degree a meaningful degree again, and realize that not ever child is going to go to college after HS, and give more support for trade schools.

On a scale of 1-10 (one being "I don't want my life back; I want you to finish me off" bad and ten being "This book was written by some form of superhuman deity" good) how would you rate it over all? is it worth purchasing or just read it at the store if I'm bored one day?
Ummmmm a five? Atwood is, technically, a very good writer, and there are parts of the book that are quite interesting.... but I'd advise you to read the beginning and the end in the bookstore, and not actually buy it.
