Oh, Amazon. I'm Insulted.

You're aware of my buying history; do you actually think I am unaware of the Anita Blake series?

Secondly, the reprint cover of the first book?

Is a blatant rip-off of the reprinted Dead Until Dark cover as wells as the True Blood credits. And it doesn't even make sense for Anita Blake to be smoking.

Fail.

I'm afraid I have to admit I read the first book in the series. It was a dollar at a garage sale. How could I resist. Now they have graphic novels of the series which I found my roommate reading. I guess the book was ok, it was entertaining, but it certainly didn't show vampires in any new and exciting way. At least they didn't sparkle.

I keep planning to get back into that series. Anita lost me in The Laughing Corpse when she made SUCH a big deal about her Christianity vs. the evil Voodoo priestess. It wouldn't have bothered me as much if I didn't get that underlying vibe that religion had ANYTHING to do with the fact that she was raising zombies and killing people.

That being said, the new Cover is painfully lame.

God, I love you right now.

That drives me CRAZY about Amazon sometimes. It's like, "Umm... yeah, I know I'd probably like that. BECAUSE I BOUGHT IT LAST WEEK!"

Nice concept, but sometimes it fails in execution.

And *head desk* to the blatant rip-offery. Good lord, as if I needed anything ELSE to snark about for that series.

Not that it makes sense for Sookie Stackhouse to be smoking either, but hey. Logic: it does not seem to work for the people that design covers.
