Oh Sweetie, You're Heart Is Going To Get SO Broken

I've been loving QC lately, especially Faye and Angus, but sweet jesus, Marigold is going to get her heart stomped on so hard.

(Does anyone besides [livejournal.com profile] bellzooks  read Questionable Content on my flist?)

I read it! I used to want Martin and Faye to get together, but Martin and Dora have totally grown on me. I'm rooting more for Marigold and Angus, but I'm not sure how much hope that has. My luck with pairings for this webcomic has always been pretty bad, so I'm not holding my breath. XD

And just a question, but did you mean Angus when you said Sven? Because I remember you talking about Sven before and hating the idea of him getting back together with Faye.

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2010-03-15 10:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I ABSOLUTELY mean Faye and Angus when I said Sven.

And I originally wanted Martin and Faye to get together too, but someone pointed out that Martin ends up just taking a lot of Faye's snark, and I had to admit that that was true. One reason that I like her and Angus is that they really respect each other, enjoy each other's snark, and don't ask the other person to be different.

That said, Dora and Martin still seems a little blah to me and Marigold and Angus doesn't really have any spark (imho) either. Frankly, Angus seems much, much older than Marigold, at least emotionally and I think factually, too. I get a more brotherly vibe from him, whereas Marigold is crushing hard.

I discovered QC about a month ago and read it religiously until I was caught up on it.

It has such a fun cast of characters, I can't really decide who I love more =/

(but I would totally love to talk fangirl with Marigold.)

Sometimes it's nice when you can archive-binge like that.

And honestly, for me Faye kind of tops the charts. Although I also really enjoy Angus and Hanners.

[identity profile] terenewen.livejournal.com 2010-03-15 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
YES YES YES. Love it, absolutely. I gasped so hard I nearly died when the Faye and Sven thing first happened. |D I love everyone in that comic...

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2010-03-15 10:34 am (UTC)(link)
I know! It make so much sense and yet was so clearly going to end so, so badly....

[identity profile] meitah.livejournal.com 2010-03-15 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
I started a few months ago. My sister rec'ed it to me after naming her puppy Hanners. I haven't gotten very far, but I'm enjoying it.

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2010-03-15 10:34 am (UTC)(link)
That's good. And I want to tell you that the art improves steadily throughout the comic - by the time you get to the end, you'll be shocked and startled if to look at earlier strips.

Sweett!

Lol QC is one of the webcomics I read regularly. Well, there are several of those, but I really enjoy QC. :) The characters are excellent, I just love their interactions with each other. Makes me laugh all the time.

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2010-03-15 10:41 am (UTC)(link)
I do too! It's surprisingly hard to find comics or shows that are consistently funny like that.

Sweet! It's looking like I have more QC fans on my flist than I originally thought!

I remember you being pretty ticked off when Sven and Faye crashed and burned. And though I agree that it wasn't at all kind that he cheated on her, I remember thinking that - really - it was *Faye* who set herself up to be hurt by creating expectations on sand. Sven had never promised monogamy (and in fact kept insisting that he wouldn't commit), and didn't have to tell her about it. But he did, and I think that was probably the straightest that he'd ever played with a woman before. I still expect that he'll be the one with the most regrets in the end.

As for Marigold... oh gosh, haven't we seen this scenario in real life? Shy, nerdy girl, somewhat socially inept) who crushes HARD on the first guy to give her some positive attention. (Again, she's the one building up unfounded hopes and expectations, too.) And yeah, I read Angus's relationship to her as more friendship than reomantic.

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2010-03-15 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I think one of the main things that ticked me off about Sven and Faye's break up was that at the time, there were a lot of hints that they might get back together. And as pissed as I was about Sven (he sort-of agree to Faye's terms and new that sleeping with that chick was a mistake) I DO agree that Faye set herself for a bad ending simply by choosing to screw around with Sven.

I still expect that he'll be the one with the most regrets in the end.

I think we've already seen that this is true.

Yep, yep. And as much as I don't want ANYTHING to happen with her and Angus, and as much as I find her almost a little too otaku to sympathize with, I'm still not looking forward to seeing her get her heart crushed, which seems well-nigh unavoidable at this point.

Weirdly, I absolutely love Marten and Dora. Mostly because they seem so GOOD together. They actually like each other and seem to be friends, and that's really nice to see in something I read.

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2010-03-15 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
It is. Regardless of whether or not the pairing sparks for me personally, they DO have a really good, really functional relationship.

I read QC and Girls with Slingshots regularly. :)

Faye and Hanners are definitely my favourite characters though I can't say I'm all that attached to their romantic entanglements (of the entire cast, I mean). I am also seriously jealous of Jeph Jacques for being able to make a living writing/drawing a web comic.

I have to admit, I'm quite attached to what goes on in Faye's love life. But I think it's going to be a long time before Hanners gets one. ^_^

Agree. I also really approve of the fact that he takes it very seriously, and is pretty good about getting new content up five days a week.

Yeah, definitely. I love seeing how much he's improved his art since the very first QC strip.

Yeah, I read it regularly. I just, ha, tend to ignore any editorial comments from Jeph Jacques. But, yes.

Poor Marigold. I feel for the poor girl. Hopefully it won't go too badly for her...

Word. His title for the one where he tries to cock!block any potential for Hanner/Marigold was just declasse.

Poor Marigold. I feel for the poor girl. Hopefully it won't go too badly for her...

She's dealing with very nice people, so I think it will probably end as best it can.
