The past couple of days I started feeling very nostalgic for my old-school fandoms.

Like, yesterday I was wondering if in the two? three? years since I've been out of Saiyuki, has anyone written any new Yaone het?

And also, I was reminiscing about the days prior to Avatar's finale and the casting!fail of the movie, when Suki was climbing up walls and my love for Zutara burned like a fiery heart.

I realize now that I never did offer congrats to you graduating. Congrats! I hope you've had a good time taking it easy.

I know how you feel about Saiyuki. I've considered getting back into the fandom, but I had a little bit of drama with a BNF and I really don't want to check to see if she's still current in the fandom anymore. Also, a lot of the friends I've made in the fandom have moved on to other things. I also need to catch up on the manga.

That image always makes me want to write Gyokumen/Hwan, and I'm really starting to dig Hwan and enjoy writing her the few times I have. And yeah, the lack of Yaone love in the fandom makes me sad.

Thank you!

And I have had some excellent times taking it easy.

I've considered getting back into the fandom, but I had a little bit of drama with a BNF and I really don't want to check to see if she's still current in the fandom anymore.

That sucks. Still, if you want to write Saiyuki, I'd encourage you to do so. Especially if it's been a while, do you think it's likely just getting back into the fandom will kick something new up?

As for catching up, Saiyuki is one of the few manga I buy when it is released in English, so it's HUGE waits between volumes.

Oh, hell yes! That image just screams 'write x-rated Gyokumen/Hwan'!

Throughout my time in Saiyuki fandom, I was perennially sad about how little love Yaone got.

It's my hope that said person has grown up a bit (and I think she has), so if she were to see me she'd probably just pass on by. It took me months after she and I had our falling out that I could even read or watch Saiyuki, because of how tied in my mind she became to the series.

Now-a-days the issue usually is not having the inspiration. Everything's either two short or I don't have the time to invest in a huge piece. I was hoping to do some short stories, really.

I do like male slash (I know it's not your thing but I am going somewhere with this), but I could never get into anything involving Kougaiji because of how the authors always dismissed Yaone (and Lirin) from Kougaiji's mind. And while I am a huge Kou/Yaone shipper I'm also flexible, unless you start writing out their significance. This is my main issue with a lot of pairings, really, because it seems like people don't understand that you can have an important and meaningful relationship with more than the person you're bumping headboards with.

Yaone definitely needs more love. I also crave genfic Kougaiji-tachi adventures.

I wish there were more female characters in Saiyuki who 1) didn't get fridged or 2) are only around for a single story arc. I love me some pretty boys too, but I like a bit of variety in my pairings.

I do buy the volumes in English, but I was talking about the scanlations that are already out. I used to read them every month and then buy the volume when it came out anyways. it's weird that I haven't been on top of it - it doesn't take very long to read a chapter.

I certainly hope she has grown up. And it's really a shame when bad experiences like that really ruin things that you love.

Everything's either two short or I don't have the time to invest in a huge piece. I was hoping to do some short stories, really.

That's how I'm doing the prompts I can now. "What is the story I want to tell?" "What is the fastest way to tell that story?"

I could never get into anything involving Kougaiji because of how the authors always dismissed Yaone (and Lirin) from Kougaiji's mind.

I hate it when writers do that! They'll do that with het couples too, where they ignore a character instead of writing in a canon relationship. It's lazy and disrespectful and ooc, imho.

Same here! I was so very sad when Pippi died.
