The Girl Who Did Not Wait

Okay, so I'm noticed on icons this tendency to label Amy as 'The Girl Who Waited' while Rose gets to be Bad Wolf wtf which is wrong.

Because, sure, when she was seven she waited all night for the Doctor.... before going on to write comic books and make dolls and force her boyfriend to dress up as 'The Raggedy Doctor' (question: when will that stop being awesome? answer: never) and grow up and become a kiss-o-gram and when the Doctor showed up she hit him with a cricket bat and locked his tie in a car door and didn't ever let him forget he was late, late, late and then she was about to get married (hardly the sign of a girl with her life on hold) before the Doctor had to practically seduce her to step into the TARDIS.

My point is 'the girl who waited' has a very passive vibe to it. Amelia Pond did not spend her life pining for the Doctor - or if she did, she pined very, very badly.

I thought it was based off of the Doctor saying: "Amy Pond, the girl who waited- you've waited long enough." But, yeah, she had a real life going on in that interim.

Oh, so it's a quote! That makes total sense now.

She didn't really wait for The Doctor so much as the adventures he promised her.

That's a good way to put it.

I loved how she reminded him he promised her a planet. That's what seemed to hurt & annoy her the most was that he didn't come back in 5 minutes, he broke his promise after making her believe he would keep actually keep it. She opened up to the possibility that someone wouldn't let her down again.

Well said. She's insisting on getting her money's worth out of this trip with the Doctor.

BLARGH. I HATE ALL PEOPLE WHO DO A CHARACTER VS. CHARACTER. Rose is Rose and Amy is Amy and Martha is Martha and Donna is Donna and Ian is Ian, AD INFINITUM. Everyone can STFU if they can't cope. Don't like a new companion? FINE. Just. Bitch about it in locked comm's and stop making other fans look bad!

(Not you. Y'know. The general audience who you probably don't have friended. And who suck.)

Yeah.

I had hoped that no one would take my comparison as a Rose vs Amy thing.

I hope she gets a title as cool as Bad Wolf by the end of the season. She deserves it, Amy is no passive waiting girl.

Same here!

Amy kisses the Doctor when she wants, where she wants. Amy is a two-man woman. Amy pats the TARDIS and calls it her spaceship. Amy hits the Doctor with a cricket bat.

She doesn't wait for you to turn up, so much as make you pay for being late.

With space/timetravelling adventures. And snogs. Y'know.

I don't watch Dr. Who (well, yet, XD), but I felt the urge to tell you that if there was anything in the world that would speed that whole watching process, it's probably be your mini-meta right here.

Ha!

I would strongly encourage you to.
