These are the icons
arabia n asked me about (she asked me about fifteen of my icons because.... I told her she could).

Because I needed a fail icon.

This is my default 'writing' icon. I love how classic it feels - writing long hand in a cafe with a cup of coffee holding down the pages. *sigh*

This icon got be into Legend of the Seeker. I am not exaggerating. Back when I was falling out of love with Naruto, I had the keywords 'fight like a girl' which I'd used a lot for various Sakura icons. I came across this, which as you can all see, is badass and feminine and contains epic hair. So I asked what show it was for and then watched the first episode to make sure that the character depicted was awesome enough for me to use an icon of her. (Guess what? She totally was.)

The keywords for this ('my body's saying 'let's go' - which are lyrics from 'Genie in a Bottle') was originall used for a Puck/Rachel icon, until I met Jesse and realized that I greatly, greatly preferred him to Puck in the role of 'Rachel's love interest. I really like the unique cropping in this and how it's one of the icons were Jesse seemed really, really into Rachel, which is how I like that relationship.

Oh, Katherine, Katherine, Katherine. She and her unrepentant evil (please stay unrepentant!) is one of the things that elevate TVD from 'boilerplate vampire show' to 'fantastic vampire show.' I really like her smile and the cropping but I do wish this icon were less pale.

Because 9/Rose will never stop being epic.

This was the first TVD icon I uploaded. I love how shadowed Damon's face is, the blood on his lips, and how he almost looks remorseful. It really sums up his character for me, both as a type and in specifics.

You know how some characters have a ton of great icons for them? Or the perfect icon falls into your lap? Not so, for Adelle deWitt. I searched for a good icon for her, and finally found this excellent one. It's from the first episode of Dollhouse that really hooked me, and I love how tall and proud Adelle is standing, and how we can admire her excellent pencil skirt.

In which Elena has a headache and Damon is concerned. I like how the iconmaker reversed the heights there faces were in the original clip, and has them facing a different direction. Another great example of an icon mirroring character arcs.

I wanted a Jessica icon that showed her yellow dress, but the coloring of this was too perfect not to use. I love how she's glowing and how innocent she looks. It's a nice glimpse of early baby!vamp Jessica.

Interesting cropping + unique coloring + Ian Somerland = icon that will be uploaded. I'm not a big fan of green, but even so...

I needed a girl with a gun icon, and who better than Dani Reese, with looking professional and cool as a cucumber.

Parker is my favorite character on Leverage and I like how this is clearly a thief in the middle of thieving. Her body language just says it all - how good she is, the danger she's in, etc. Plus, the long shot of the floor really gives a sense of her isolation.

I uploaded this icon because it was pretty and I needed more Firefly icons.

All the Jeff/Annie scenes of Debate 109 are excessively iconned (understandably). I picked this one because I really liked this moment (spoilers! it's right when Annie kisses Jeff and right before Jeff drops a paraplegic on the floor to devote his full attention to kissing Annie) and I think you can see the impromptu nature of the kiss in how Jeff's neck is angled. While 'man is evil' is a more striking text, I think 'off book' fit into the image better.

If you know where the original cap is from, I can try and recreate the icon for you, less pale. If you don't, I'm sure I can go searching for it, but it would take me a little bit longer to do. :)

And since I already did a post up for this, I'll just answer these here.
I'm the moderator of
When the promo for this episode of The Big Bang Theory came out and we realized that Sheldon touched Penny's boob, all of us Sheldon/Penny fans on twitter started tweeting "BOOB!" constantly and so I had to make an icon of that moment with that phrase, LOL!
And then I decided that I wanted my M&M icon to fit the new layout of the comm, and featured both Jeff and Annie, so I created this one.
This is one of my favorite promo shots (it's actually of Nina, Ian and Paul -- he's at the bottom of the pic, thus easily cropped) and is from the TV Guide cover shoot. I just love the cool pose ... and the fact that Nina is wearing Ian's hat! (See icon! Same hat.)
I LOOOVE this picture of Alison Brie, and I LOOOVE how the icon/texture/cropping came out.
First non-Ian-related Nina icon I made. I saw the picture and just thought it was the cutest thing ever. So I iconed it. :)
ETA: Here you go: I'm not sure it's quite the same cap, but it's really close, if it's not. If you don't like it, that's totally cool. But here's something.

Your Jeff-mod icon does look awesomely badass, and the icon of Brie is super-sexy. I cannot express how much joy I have over Nina wearing Ian's hat. *dies*

Yeah, I know. She wore it at some CW afterparty too. As much as he clearly adores his hats, I think that he keeps letting her wear it is such a sign of love, LOL!

You can't be surprised about that, can you?

i mean what happens after the pirates run out of bullets huh
also: your Jesse/Rachel icon: YES. It is very lovely.

Exactly? What happens if you're not at sea? Pirates need too many props.
Jesse/Rachel is the pairing I liked the most out of Glee. I'm so sorry that I doubt Jesse is going to come back.

As usual, these are all homebrews...
Art by Pegge Hopper (http://www.peggehopper.com/), an old favorite from back home...I really love her style. I use this one a lot when talking about Hawai'i, or feeling a bit nostalgic or pensive -- the original painting puts me in mind of a lot of gorgeously melancholy Hawaiian songs about distance and homesickness.
From a portrait of a Mohawk (http://www.npg.si.edu/exhibit/kings/slideshow/kings.htm) diplomatic envoy (http://www.nationalpost.com/arts/Four+Indian+Kings+portraits+long+awaited+Ottawa+showing/3183206/story.html) to the court of Queen Anne. I love how this group of paintings depicts Indian leaders with the same pomp and dignity as European nobles of the day, and puts the lie to the common attitude that native histories were too primitive and unimportant to be worth paying attention to...and I love how he is rocking the hell out of that formalwear.
Shakira bellydancing, painstakingly edited down from a much larger animated gif I found floating around somewhere. I use this one sometimes when I'm talking about music or dance, or for snarky/teasing banter with a couple of friends that I have particular running jokes with.
Fanart from an unknown source, a beautifully unsettling realistic portrait of Soubi from Loveless baring his scarred, bleeding throat. I really love the blend of vulnerability and defiant bravado going on in this -- if you've ever read Angela Carter, this sort of hits my id in the same way as that passage in "The Bloody Chamber" talking about the morbid Merveilleuse fashion for red ribbon chokers. (http://www.blastmilk.com/decollete/guillotine/victims-ball.php)
Shenhua with a bad pun that works on both levels, because I love her to bits and love that Black Lagoon is a universe where both tomboys and girly-girls get to be equally cool and badass.
Haudenosaunee and Hawaiian flags, with the state motto (http://www.netstate.com/states/mottoes/hi_motto.htm), because it speaks to the common attitude towards the living land in the places and peoples that shaped me.
A Roving Band Of Angry Dandies. That Is A Sentence That Will Never Get Old.

*flails*
Oh, the French. I don't know what I love more - learning about who started the fashion for dampening dresses or that for a period in the 1700s, short hair was a la mode for ladies. And parties were you had to have a member of your family killed by guillotine to come? That is so deliciously fucked up.
that Black Lagoon is a universe where both tomboys and girly-girls get to be equally cool and badass.
Agreed. It's kind of like Avatar in that respect.
Re: A Roving Band Of Angry Dandies. That Is A Sentence That Will Never Get Old.
And I do have the a la carte icons -- but they're not unlimited slots, and I'm at the max now, 30, for what's available at my current account level. I know I could get more if I just grit my teeth and buy a pay account, but...I have some issues with 6A in general, and I don't particularly want any of the paid account features, so I feel a somewhat irrational reluctance to "support" them with a paid account, even though I'd be willing to put money in their pockets just to get more pics. *shrugs*
Re: A Roving Band Of Angry Dandies. That Is A Sentence That Will Never Get Old.
And I totally understand not wanting to give six apart more money.
