nimblnymph , who wanted Kahlan badassery of some sort. I am sure this is not what she predicted.
Warning: Infant death.
Summery: In which Kahlan is not kind.
Pregnancy was kind to Kahlan. Her body cradled the child within it easily, and the beat of new life filled her limbs with warmth even as the weather grew colder. As her stomach expanded, the love in Richard's eyes growing deeper and stronger each day, there was a chill worry nestled next to her heart.
When Richard was needed in the province over and she was too close to her time to travel, she kissed him goodbye, her lips hot with prayers of gratitude to the Spirits that he would be gone for the birth.

After, Cara said, "It's a boy," without a drop of expression in her voice.
Kahlan let her head fall back, hair snarled and soaked with sweat.
She reached for her dagger and Cara looked approving.
"It was a girl who became tangled in the birthing cord," Kahlan declared after the fire had been built up to a furious blaze. Her words were clear and confident and had the ring of truth in them.
"Of course," Cara agreed.
The little corpse burned quickly.
