I was intrigued! Until I realized what a narrow definition of "doomed" the manager was using. I mean, there are ships that I ship which end up nonsensically doomed by canon (see: Zutara), but there are ships that I ship because they are doomed to some kind of tragic failure (see: Rhett/Scarlett). And other people seem to be able to convince the OP of all that, but they had to fight pretty hard, because the OP seemed to be thinking, BY "DOOMED" I MEANT "NOT CANON," which are not two equatable things.
I have just discovered a new doomed ship: Valmont/Merteuil from Dangerous Liasons. I mean, just look at this:
I shan't withhold the reward we agreed on: anyway, I feel that for a single evening we'll hit it off together fabulously; I even have no doubt that we can embroider on it sufficiently well to make us sorry when it comes to an end. But don't forget that this regret is necessary for happiness; and that however pleasant the illusion, let's not imagine that it can last. [...]
Do you know, I'm sometimes sorry that we've been reduced to these expedients? In the old days, when we loved one another--for I think it was love--I was happy. How about you, Vicomte? By why concern ourselves with a happiness that can never return? No, whatever you may say, it's not possible to turn the clock back. First of all, I'd demand sacrifices from you which you'd be unable or unwilling to accept and which I may not even deserve. And then, how could I hold on to you? No, I don't want such a thought even to come into my head and although at this moment I'm enjoying writing to you, I'd better break off quickly now...Goodbye, Vicomte.
SO DOOMED. SO SHIPPABLE. AAAAAAAAAAAH.
/random need to share her current pain with someone
The person who started the meme called ships doomed where:
"1. Your show was canceled prior to ship resolution. 2. One or both members of your ship died or disappeared or left. 3. Canon hates your ship and wants it to suffer/never exist in the first place."
So I there are a lot of ships that had subtext but weren't the canon pairings (zutara, Harry/Hermione) or ships where one or both of the people died (Lupin/Tonks, Lexie/Stefan), or they were a couple and then broke up (Ted/Robin, Rachel/Jesse).

This is true, although I really respect that she seems to be holding herself to the standards she's setting.
