Multi-Fandom Cocktail Party!
–I finished The Battle of the Labyrinth. And I honestly don't know who I ship more: Percy/Annabeth or Annabeth/Luke.
–I watched the premier of Glee, to which my main reaction was: why am I still watching this show? Also, have a gif:

Quinn and the new football coach were basically the only things worth watching this episode. FYI, my hate for Will is growing and I want to bang my head against the desk due to the epic fail of Rachel/Finn.
–HIMYM was enjoyable, if not earth shattering. Yeah, the writers are clearly being total cock-teases about us meeting the mother, but you know, I expect and have accepted that, so I can enjoy other things about the episode like:
a.) the OC's Summer getting in a happy, successful (and HOT) lesbian relationship.
b.) "Robin, seriously, I love you, but it's like you have squiggly, cartoon odor lines coming off you."
I found Robin and Barney's back and forth adorable. This is how I like them best, when they're bros with a side of subtext.
–Community was fun, especially once the first, second-hand-embarrassing third of the episode was over. I cannot express how glad I am that this didn't lead into an extended version of 'let's crush Annie's heart' OR 'ha ha, let's throw metaphoric pig's blood on Britta,' and I'm hoping that Jeff/Annie will continue to be one or two shippy episodes per season. Also, I'm quite impressed that a.) they went with Britta just getting caught up in the competition and b.) they went somewhere I have yet to see fanfic do, in all the dozens of post-Pascal's Triangle Revisited fics I've read. Also, most unsexy kiss ever.
–And now, my vampiric love and favorite show of the entire year (summer or winter season, take your pick), The Vampire Diaries:
Oh my fucking god, Elena clearly has taken tips from Princess Leia on fuck-you kisses. I mean when she just laid that one on Stefan right in front of Damon.... and it just went on and on. So hot, so bitchy, so awesome. Katherine would be proud.
I'm not thrilled with Caroline's new, heavy black eyeliner but her and Stefan's interactions are choice. (HE'S THE BEST VAMP!DADDY EVER, OMG. Seriously, Bill, you should be taking lessons from this boy.)
Now, I can already tell that Bonnie is going to get hated on for her behavior in this episode which I loved. Not because I enjoyed seeing her be so "witchy" to her friend, but because I think that it's wonderfully in-character for Bonnie to be unable to see past 'vampire' to 'best friend' in any real way. First, I respect that Bonnie is holding her anti-vamp line (and she has a point. Caroline has been a vampire for, what, two days? And she's already killed someone). Secondly, on a narrative level, it's really, really interesting to have Bonnie in a position of opposition to Elena and her vampire boyfriends and now Bonnie's BF Caoline. Oh, show, I love you so hardcore.
Ooooooh, werewolves that look like werewolves! So awesome! ...now, if only they weren't connected with the Lockwoods...
Alaric's hair is poofy and dumb. Jenna's jewelry is over the top and ugly.
And finally,
topaquity ? I don't care what Elena said, there is no fucking way that this is the end of Damon/Elena. IMHO,, this episode could only have been more shippy on the Damon/Elena front if they had made out. To quote Katherine: "That sounds like the beginning of a love story, not the end." Plus, have you seen EVERY SINGLE PROMO PICTURE FOR THIS SHOW? It is all about the love triangle. There is no way that we go through a season of them becoming friends, have Damon fall for Elena, have Elena's doppleganger show up and make out with Damon while pretending to be Elena, have him kill her brother, have him admit he tried to kill her brother, have her say 'it's over' and then have Damon gracefully step back OR have Elena be like 'I hate you, go away' for however many season this show has left. It's just not going to happen.

This x50000. Seriously, I don't know how anyone could view this episode as anything other than a big ol' D/E shipfest. Actually, I think that goes for the season premiere as well. It all screams "WATCH WHILE WE SET UP D/E AND SEND THEM DOWN THE EPIC LOVE PATH!!"
I think even non-shippers can see that, it's so obvious.
As for Stefan and Caroline, I'm just going to copy paste what I said on my journal. They are the single most bestest, adorablest, genuinely intriguingest dynamic that the writers have ever put together. :D

Agreed. I can see not LIKING where the writers are going (and one thing I didn't put into my post is that I think Stefan/Elena is CLEARLY the endgame ship), but for all the amazing things TVD does, I do not think it's going to break the bigger tropes/cliches that it's working with. Which means that I'd bet money that we will see more D/E and they will come to a friendship with hints of more, but that Stefan is going to be the person she ends the series with.

They are adorable! I so want her to be the new Lexie.

Still, this is a Kevin Williamson show and Dawson's Creek ended with Joey/Pacey instead of the "soulmates" Joey and Dawson, so who knows?
You know, as I was typing up my comment, Joey/Pacey was the one exception to the expected pairings that I could think of. *ponders.*

Though something that I wished had happened: Someone signed up for Glee who genuinely could not sing. With their 'No auditions needed' policy, how would they deal?

I had that thought too. It's like 'one bad person could destroy what you're trying to do - do you NOT realize that?'

I <3 Caroline. She had so many great lines, and her and Stefan played off each other so well!

I think that honor goes to Jeff and the billiard's teacher. On topic, that kiss was hilarious. I think it's because they went tongues first, which never looks right, and then it looked like they were trying to swallow each other's faces whole.
I'm usually the first one to get second hand embarrassment, but I actually enjoyed the first third of the episode as well as the other thirds.
I'm glad that the love triangle is over for now. I'm with Abed - more adventures.

Agreed!

I HATE Will. HATE HATE HATE. But if the Groff came back? I'd probably watch the show again, despite my hatred of most everything.
HIMYM was definitely better than it has been, but the whole "Robin is nasty" thing bothered me greatly.
I cannot express how glad I am that this didn't lead into an extended version of 'let's crush Annie's heart' OR 'ha ha, let's throw metaphoric pig's blood on Britta,'
OH AMEN.
but her and Stefan's interactions are choice. (HE'S THE BEST VAMP!DADDY EVER, OMG. Seriously, Bill, you should be taking lessons from this boy.)
Totally agreed. Their interaction was lovely. But she absolutely ripped my heart out when she broke up with Matt for his own good. OH OH OH MY HEART.
I love how consistent Bonnie's characterization is. I don't hate her at all, and I think her reactions have been perfectly understandable.
I was glad to see Alaric back (very glad), but yeah, his hair was bad.
I don't care what Elena said, there is no fucking way that this is the end of Damon/Elena. IMHO,, this episode could only have been more shippy on the Damon/Elena front if they had made out.
Total agreement. And when he took the arrow for her, my sister, who doesn't watch things fannishly at all, goes, "Oh! That was so sweet and romantic! I want them to be together!" Ha!

I am terribly sad that we're probably never going to see him again. He and Rachel were perfect for each other.
Total agreement. And when he took the arrow for her, my sister, who doesn't watch things fannishly at all, goes, "Oh! That was so sweet and romantic! I want them to be together!" Ha!
I love it when random bystanders support my ships!

Me, too! I was so surprised because she's pretty much all about the surface text when she watches TV, so I expected her to like Elena with Stefan. The random Damon/Elena love made my night!

*grins* LOL, that's a bit understandable, given all the Annabeth/Luke undertones, etc. Though even with those being present, I still have to say that I shipped Percy/Annabeth from the very beginning. Those two are far too snarky, too cute, too "my mom and your dad hate each other so that kinda sorta means that we have to too but I don't think I hate you at all" kind of thing (Wow, that was long).
Just out of curiosity, what do you think of Luke/Thalia?

ps i love your icon

Are you going to be getting The Lost Hero when it comes out in FIFTEEN DAYS?! *is excited*
no subject
And yes!! I (sadly) don't own any of the PJO books (yet) but I plan on getting The Lost Hero as soon as it comes out!! Yay for borders rewards discounts!! lol
no subject
Borders rewards discounts are a fantastic thing! I just wish that there would be an opening book party. *sighs*
And that makes me very sad that you don't own any of the PJO books. I want to say that they're pretty cheap at Wal-Mart, only like $7 per book, which isn't bad at all.
no subject
I know! That would be totally amazing if they had an opening book party!
I feel bad that I no longer have any ATLA icons! :((
no subject
Definitely. Honestly, I kind of ship them both, in different ways. And I love the conversation where they're finding an example of their parents working together so they can justify being friends. So adorable.
I don't have much of an opinion on Luke/Thalia. It's some of the same dynamics that I really like with Luke/Annabeth, but I feel less of a connection with Thalia and Thalia wasn't there right when Luke betrayed Team Olympus, so I feel that that it's less... immediate, if that makes sense.
no subject
...But out of curiosity, wasn't Annabeth too young for Luke? o.o I thought she was twelve when he was 19 or 22, something like that...*doesn't remember*
no subject
*nods*
I can see where that would happen, especially if you don't know her previous relationship with Percy and Luke.
...But out of curiosity, wasn't Annabeth too young for Luke? o.o I thought she was twelve when he was 19 or 22, something like that...*doesn't remember*
First of all, I am the WRONG person to ask about 'too young.' Secondly, I believe that she was 12 when he was 16 - so she's a little two young during the first book but is growing less so all the time.

*lightbulb*
That said, I really like Rachel, and I CRACKED UP when Aphrodite is like 'I like you. I'm going to make your love life traumatic! Because that is how I roll.'

I am looking forward to a 'fuck-you' kiss. I wish Stefan and Elena made out more even though they're in an established relationship now. *sigh*

I just watched this week's TVD episode tonight and they really are taking their time with the Damon/Elena ship, which actually relieves me. It's a slow build, not all this unbearable chemistry than then goes POOF!
Alaric's hair is poofy and dumb. Jenna's jewelry is over the top and ugly.
I did not notice Alaric's hair but word on Jenna's jewelry. Also, I don't care about her at all right now. I used to, a little, last season but she's barely in the picture now except to be judgmental. Maybe next episode?
But basically yes to the Elena-taunt-kiss, yes to the wolves being actual wolves, yes to the Bonnie fierceness. It is nice to see a character take a hard line and stick to it, even when it's her best friend. I still love Caroline more with every vamp episode, but Bonnie's still in my good zone :)
As for Glee and Community... yeah, I'm not sure why I'm watching Glee anymore and Community was great for handling the issue of the finale really well. With the grossest kiss ever.

I always love it when writers know how to DEVELOP a relationship, not just keep it in status.

Same here.

It truly was a terrible, terrible kiss.
