NPR recited On Punctuation on their writer's almanac section today, which totally made me snooty. Oh, of course, you love commas and exclamation marks and ellipses - who doesn't? Those are the easy, slutty punctuation marks that any fool can have, no grace, so subtly, no class.

Not like the crisp grace of a period or the impressive clarity of a well-placed colon.

A delightful em dash. ;p

Em dashes and semi-colons are my call girls, man. (:

It's annoying that English professors nowadays--or well, mine at least--discourage the use of dashes and semi-colons. Just because they don't understand that some of us know how to use them properly. huff.

SEMICOLONS

they are the sexiest.

Hey, what's between the quotation marks can make or break the story.

My favorite would be the interrobang!

Speaking of punctuation: Do you know of any good online resources on English punctuation that you, as a native speaker and student, would recommend?

I'm an ESL person who has to write English communication at work, and punctuation is one thing I am never sure about.

This is why you are so amazing and awesome. :)
