Unpopular Opinions Meme!

Give me a fandom and I'll tell you three unpopular opinions about it. If you give me a show/book/movie/etc that I'm not fannishly active about, I'll give you three things I dislike about the media in question instead.

Unpopular Opinions For Tortal

1.) I wish Raoul had been homosexual.

2.) I like Alanna better than Daine, even though the Daine books are better written.

3.) First Test and Lady Knight are actually dull in some respects, as much as I like Kel's character.

1.) I wish Raoul had been homosexual.

I had actually assumed that would be the subtext. But then he hooked up with Buri, so...?

2.) I like Alanna better than Daine, even though the Daine books are better written.

Alanna has always been my favorite, from her method of attaining her knighthood, to her family. Of the leads, she's just the most... intriguing in her relationships.

3.) First Test and Lady Knight are actually dull in some respects, as much as I like Kel's character.

I thought they delved more into Kel's character struggles than the other books did of the other lead characters. I rather loved Kel's time at Camp Hope though. :D

I read these books young enough that that wasn't even on my radar, but when i reread them recently, I was struck by how well the subtext would have supported that, and how awesome it would have been.

I think that's true to an extent, in that Kel's character struggles were more consistent, but I really wish that she'd had more of the plot that was in the first two series.
