Give me a fandom and I'll tell you three unpopular opinions about it. If you give me a show/book/movie/etc that I'm not fannishly active about, I'll give you three things I dislike about the media in question instead.

Unpopular Opinions For TVD

1.) Elena is not boring, especially in the first season, when she was clearly a girl struggling to enjoy life again and frustrated that she wasn't who she used to be.

2.) Stefan is also not boring. Admittedly, he's a little melodramatic, but it clearly runs in the family.

3.) Elena loving Damon would likely help him much less than fandom would have us believe.

Re: 3; on a side note I also struggle with this perception that Elena should be happy with/flattered by Damon 'being good for her.' Elena is very empathic - compassionate, generous. She takes others' feelings seriously. Callousness in general upsets her, and without Damon taking independent steps of his own towards more genuine readjustment of his worldview, (i.e. acknowledging that hurting other people is wrong, not just 'Elena & Stefan won't like me if I do it) I can't see her accepting that. She's too aware of him as a person that hurts others, their personal interactions aside. And she's too practical to be taken in by the 'romance' of the concept.

If that made sense?

1) People think Elena is boring?? Bella is dumb boring, Elena is not. People legit say things like this? So glad I don't have a main TVD comm I frequent now. What's the reasoning behind this opinion? Because Elena is relatively stable and doesn't spend her time solely obsessing about Edward Stefan? Dear Lord.

2) Second verse almost the same as the first, except with huge emphasis on the fact that Stefan =/= Edward

3) Well, no. Damon is not last three seasons Spike by a long shot. And it was more Spike loving Buffy that changed Spike- Buffy doesn't verbalize returning his feelings until right before he bursts into flames.
