Tumblr reminded me of a line the TARDIS had in "The Doctor's Wife" where she says, "the only water in the forest is the river." Now, I'm wondering if that's a reference to something that we don't yet know (but might find out this Saturday) about River Song (and possibly Amy and/or Rory since they are the Ponds) OR if it's a reference to her ending up in that dream world after she dies in "Forests of the Dead." Which, frankly, I need to rewatch. But the more I think about it, the less that feels like a happy ending. I almost feel like her going out saving people and saving the Doctor and then just dying is a more fitting end than 'living' in some dream world that doesn't seem to have a lot of adventure.

Maybe River will become like Rose and Martha and will have adventures defending *her* world, computerized though it is....from.... stuff. I dunno.

Yeah. I'm trying to figure out a what a meaningful threat would look like in that computer world.

I've always thought that the "ending" of River Song, being trapped in a dreamworld of a computer with other departed souls, was always rather depressing and even vaguely distrubing rather than happy. I mean, its not real. And it is, presumably, never-ending.

Which was okay-ish when I thought she was a cool archeologist with some maternal/mentor-ly leanings but less cool know that I know who River Song is.
