Okay, here's how this is going to work. You comment with a fandom question. I answer it and then ask you a question that has some thematic relevance to the question you asked me.

Would/did Buffy ever have a truly (honest) healthy romantic relationship?

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
I almost feel like Angel would be it. Admittedly, though, I watched Buffy about a decade ago, so I think I'm more aware of relationships dynamics now than I was then.

I know this is kind of cheating, but I'd ask the same question of you.

xD

How do you feel about multi-shipping? D'you ever have multiple conflicting OTPs?

Re: xD

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2011-11-26 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
I am a HUGE fan of multi-shipping. SHIP ALL THE PAIRINGS! That said, I wouldn't say I ever have conflicting OPTs, because if I'm OTP about one pairing, while I might ship one character with someone else, I've never shipped with the same intensity that I ship the OPT.

For you: Do you feel that shipping is intrinsic to how you enjoy media?

Re: xD

[identity profile] ever-neutral.livejournal.com 2011-11-26 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
*nod*

Shipping most definitely enhances my enjoyment of media. It improves my understanding of characters. How X relates to Y, etc. I'm very, very interested in how humans connect with other humans, period. So, in that sense, shipping is intrinsic to my media ~consumption, yes. *g*

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2011-11-27 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
I admit, one of the things that affects how I choose media is whether or not I think there is going to be a pairings I'm really into in it.

Have you ever gotten attached to non-human protagonists? (Books or movies. Robots, animals, etc.)

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2011-11-19 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Not... in the way I think you mean. Like, I adore Cameron from The Sarah Conner Chronicles, but since her whole arc is about become human, I don't think she quite fits your question.

As far as proper non-humans go, I definitely got attached to Dean's Impala, but on the whole I think the answer is no.

Is there a character who you've gotten really attached to and regretted it? (Either because of who the character is or how their character arc plays out?)

[identity profile] qualapec.livejournal.com 2011-11-19 10:28 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I was thinking more in terms of animals given human culture/characteristics, like Watership Down or Redwall. But I think you answered my question!

Is there a character who you've gotten really attached to and regretted it? (Either because of who the character is or how their character arc plays out?)

Ouch. That's a tough one.

I kind of never regret getting attached to characters? I usually drop series when I feel they're taking a step down in quality or the fandom is losing its shit. But characters I like are kind of the thing I don't usually end up regretting. Even when a writing takes a bad route, my instinct is never really "I really regret liking this character".

I've always sort of really loved villains, and in most series that doesn't end well (and people ALWAYS tease/criticize you for liking the bad boy). The little kid in me always wanted to see them join the 'good guys'. In the last couple years, I've come to appreciate the idea that not every villain needs a redemption arc to be interesting, and some are far more interesting without it.

I answered this question WAAAAAY too soon.

After watching "Under the Red Hood" (Batman, DC Universe) my muse has been somewhat fixated on Jason Todd...and WOW he is a horrible horrible person. Then I read the first three issues of Red Hood and the Outlaws. By all rights everywhere, I should hate Roy Harper in that series. A lot. But the fact that he totally hates himself makes up for his personality.

So yeah, I'm kind of regretting liking both of them right now because although there's a lot of potential for change and growth in future series, as it is they are very messed up and I don't know wtf my muse is doing.

I am also guilty of this. It's embarrassing (or at least, not cool) but I am a total sucker for a bad boy with a heart of gold.

*pats shoulder* We've all been there.

What is your favorite Dr. Who episode and your least favorite? Why?

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2011-11-19 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I haven't seen large chunks of the new series.... the first christmas special with Ten made me stop watching the show... and I kind of adore the Eleventh Hour.

If you could have one outfit from Doctor Who, what would you pick?

[identity profile] hungrytiger11.livejournal.com 2011-11-20 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably one of Amys (I don't know if its just that Amy is the newest and therefore most fashion -of-this-year-ish, or if its a new budget or what, but her outfits are nicer than the others, I think....) maybe the one from Hungry Earth..."dressed for Rio"

THough, I do like Rory as a Centurion.

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Amy always has great outfits... and her one for Rio was fabulous.

I LOVE THIS MEME, MUST DO IT SOMETIME.

In TVD, if you had to kill off Elena or Caroline RIGHT NOW who would it be and why? *hums 'nobody said it'd be easy'*)

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2011-11-19 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, that is easy as cake. Elena, no question (she's been really frustrating me this season).

If you had to kill off Annie or Britta on Community, who would you pick?

Has there ever been a fandom that you've wanted to join but never seemed to fit in?

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2011-11-26 10:07 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I was in the Saiyuki fandom for a while but NEVER fit in - that fandom was ALL about Hakkai x Goyjo or Sanzo x Goku - aka two slash ships I wasn't into at all.

What are some of the funniest/best fandoms you've been in?

[identity profile] rosegilmore.livejournal.com 2011-11-28 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the best and funniest would be a tie between the Percy Jackson fandom and Avatar the last airbender fandom. Atla was so funny because of all the ship wars and angst between everyone, and Percy Jackson is just an over all great group of people. :)

[identity profile] redbrunja.livejournal.com 2011-12-19 08:55 am (UTC)(link)
With Avatar, I made the FATAL MISTAKE of being invested in who ends up with whom. Bad move.
