So, while reading hotelsongs (which everyone on my flist interested in Once Upon A Time, fairy tales, and narrative structure should totally do), her comments made me realize that as much I find the latest episode of OUAT completely off the rails and once again making terrible narrative choices,it does show all three main female characters interacting with sex for emotional reasons that are not about love (with Regina/Graham*, ironically, being the closest to an actual relationship). But seriously: you have Mary freaking Margaret, the sweet school teacher, doing her damnest to have a one night stand. You have Emma talking about how she straight-up doesn't do relationships. (And then you have Regina actually reaching out to Graham and getting slapped away.)

*It is explicit that the Evil Queen raped the Huntsmen in the fairy tale realm (which, sidenote, thanks for fucking nothing, writers, why do you keep deciding that my favorite characters are rapists? It is both NOT APPRECIATED on a subjective level and usually an objectively questionable writing decision to boot) but that dynamic doesn't play for me with Regina and Graham. Especially not with him showing up on her doorstep in an attempt to feel something and then acting huffy and hurt that she hadn't asked him to sleep over before.
Also, hotelsongs has a great 'oh snap' to teenage boy immortals.

hotelsongs has excellent taste. I just reblogged a Bonnie/Clyde gif from her. WHY AREN'T THERE MORE OF THOSE, INTERNET? Er. I really, really am not a fan of where they went with Regina and the Huntsman, as you know, but I'm not sure the writers realize why this was such a bad idea. And blech on the evil ladies getting blamed for all the men's problems just because they're the default evil. Men have shades too, okay?

Though Graham turned out to be such a woobie, maybe not.

Ugh, Graham's woobie-ness. So annoying.

They do. And it's really hard to blame Regina for everything (at least for me) when I find her reactions understandable and Graham's really off the rails.

I really dislike that people were sure Regina was a rapist even BEFORE ep 7, and now in the light of that ep's revelations about the Evil Queen and the Huntsman, they keep generalizing it to Regina, which frustrates me- yes, SHE might be the same person, but GRAHAM =/= HUNTSMAN. He has no memories of being her slave, he has shown NO RELUCTANCE to hooking up with Regina, no sign of coercion, when Emma waltzed into his life and he was more fascinated with her than Regina, he had no hesitation about breaking it off with her, no signs of fear of retaliation or anything that would suggest an abusive relationship.

I mean, FFS, all the scenes we saw of them, he had the upper hand- he chose to go to her house, he chose to start making out with her, he chose to have sex wsith her, he chose to leave her, he chose to ignore her pleading with him to stay...

Btw, what did you mean about Graham being off the rails in the above comment? His OTT reactions to Emma? I DON'T FEEL ANYTHING, I HAVE NO HEEEEART, etc. etc.?

Yeah, there really seems to be a distinct divide between Graham/Huntsmen in a lot of ways.

Ummm, I found the whole 'animals are pure' thing ridiculous, I found him being all 'oh my god Emma I love you kissy kissy, let me go nail the mayor' really lol worthy, etc, etc. Basically, Regina's actions and what she's thinking always make sense to me, while Graham's don't.
