There is an okay article about things that The Hunger Games movies probably won't (and/or shouldn't) do, which is notable mainly for this photo that I haven't seen before:

What I love is how Peeta is like *worried* and Katniss looks like she's deciding where she's going to start nibbling.

Also, there is an amazing Katniss fanart here.

*cackles at that photo* Oh, OTP. I love that photo and I love the fanart.

While I'm sort of excited for the movie (the trailer got me), I kind of agree that it shall be hard for the viewer to get inside Katniss' head on screen. Some of the new fans may not understand that she's playing a game where she has to act a certain way in order to get the support of the sponsors in order to survive, but it's not completely impossible for a film to portray what's going on inside a character's head. They did that well in Avatar, so I'm sure they'll be able to manage it in this movie.

As for the setting and the capitol citizens, it's one of the reasons I kind of wish this movie was animated because it would be easier to bring those concepts to life. I can imagine how amazing the scenery would be in an animated film (and I think of Miyazaki's latest film when I say this because it had such beautiful scenery).

Also I really wanted to see the characters drawn in this style: http://elontirien.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d35bo59

Yeah, this is true. But I really hope they don't end up softening her, you know?

I can understand that. Although as the article said, Effie was PERFECT.

*nods* To me, the actress playing Katniss in the trailer did the character justice so I've got no doubts about characterisation at the moment. Maybe we'll hear her thoughts in a voice over so she doesn't always have to vocalise her feelings to the viewer?

I watched Winter's Bone for the sole purpose of feeling out the actress, and I have GREAT confidence in her ability.

Same here. I thought that casting Lawrence was a stroke of brilliance.

I pretty much agree with that article on things that are likely to be cut, especially in terms of the violence - I bet the final battle sequence at the Cornucopia with the Mutts and Cato and everything will be far less graphic, especially. But man, I love that Katniss is an emotional idiot and an asshole, so I hope they don't lighten her up too much.
