Marvel's 2012 movie announced. And it's not about Black Widow. Or Coulson. Or SHIELD. I cannot believe instead of a movie about the epic Natasha Romanoff (in which, maybe, the world's greatest marksmen is sent to kill her and they make out instead) we're getting "Guardians of the Galaxy" and fucking Ant-Man. THEY DON'T EVEN GO HERE.

I... don't know who Edgar Wright is or why I should care. (Which sounds super rude, and I don't mean to be bitchy at you, I just... I am really bitter I'm getting two movies about characters I don't care about instead of a Black Widow movie.)

NOOOOOOOOOO I have heard no news about an Ant-Man movie actually happening, I refuse to believe it, HANK PYM IS THE ACTUAL WORST AND I CANNOT SIT IN A THEATRE FEELING LIKE I'M COVERED IN ANTS FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF OKAY.

They couldn't even make a Young Avengers film? Runaways? Jessica Jones? Heroes for Hire? ANYTHING?

He's a writer/director, having done movies like Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead. Honestly, he's the reason I'm excited for Ant-Man (because otherwise, Hank Pym isn't my cup of tea)! :D I'm hoping we'll get a Natasha movie soon though!

I watched three episodes of the cartoon Avengers and he was BY FAR the least interesting character in that.* And - not to police appropriate ways of being female - Janet is NOT a type of character I relate to or enjoy, typically.

He is an abuser. :/ in the original one, it was some excuse involved, but in Ultimates it went all out that he abused his spouse in a very bad way, a whole panel long. I know it's mainly in that verse but I can't really ever get over it because...he's a hero. That's his storyline. A hero. And so to me, it's kind of...:/ okaying it in a way, since this is a man you are to look up to.

His reaction was pretty much exactly the same as ours.

So basically everyone is in agreement that there is simply no justice in the world.

okay I hate to play devil's advocate because I would watch the hell out of a Black Widow movie, especially one with Coulson in it, but I'm just going to put it out there that before the Iron Man film was released everyone thought Tony Stark was just an alcoholic asshole. So even if everything we hear about Ant Man makes us want to punch the dude in the face repeatedly, the film? It might make us have FEELS.

Yeah, I'm not gonna say anything for certain, but the Marvel movieverse is getting pretty gosh-darn awesome. So look at it this way: Even if it turns out bad, there is a decent chance of seeing Darcy hitting him with a TASER.

I'm not going to say anything positive about it. I'm not going to hate on it just 'cause it's about someone who is less sympathetic than Loki from what we hear. I'm going to view it like the occasional random ship fic I'll come across -- it sounds unlikely and potentially horrible at first glance, but if an author manages to write the hell out it, it can be awesome.

So I vote to wait, poke it with a stick, and check out fandom's response before judging.
