Yes. So much with the yes. It -- it doesn't work if you try to ship them with anyone else because Tony needs Pepper to function. She's the only one who'd ever put up with him. She's the reason he has a company to fund his projects, and I am not going to let anyone tell me that he didn't talk her out of stepping down as CEO because she'd already been doing the job since . . . maybe a week after he hired her, maybe a month? A bit of time to adjust and then the stock sees a noticeable bump because someone's managed to get Tony to sign vital things on time.
And Pepper . . . Pepper is an addict, too. A Tony addict. Gotta be the reason she's stayed this long. So they are perfect for each other and oh wow this trailer looks painful because even Loki knew better than to mess with Pepper.
He can get through many situations on sheer bluster and the ability to build awesome stuff (even in a cave, with a box of scraps) but without her . . . well, it'd make people realize that what they thought was self-destructive behavior was actually him being rather controlled. btw the novelization is awesome -- I'm a fan of novelizations -- because, among other things, there's a moment where Yinsen is rather confused because delerious!Tony keeps asking for pepper when there's no seasonings to be had.
Oooh yeah. Though I'm pretty sure it comes with the pay scale of ten full time jobs, so at least there's no worries on paying the rent for the apartment she occasionally visits between meeting plans. There are worse ways to avoid one's own issues.

OH MY GOD THAT IS THE GREATEST THING EVER.

Not every coping mechanism leads to shoes as awesome as Pepper's that's for damn sure.
whoever wrote the novelization is a total shipper. No question.
My headcanon for Pepper's shoes is that every so often, when Tony realizes just how much shit she's put up for him lately, Tony will contact one of the high-end shoe designers and have a pair custom made for her. They look fancy in a normal way, but they're comfy even if she's on her feet all day and are also as sturdy as steel-toed boots in case she trips on something he left out in the shop. She also has normal designer shoes, but the custom ones are handy for when she inevitably needs to run from something that's attacking her, and then still look classy for the press conference in the aftermath.
oh hey lookit a new otp for Avengers. (http://thenotoriousscuttlecliff.tumblr.com/post/34229961724/agent-coulson-wasnt-going-to-let-one-bad-blind) wait, does it count as an OTP if you've got like three different ones for the same canon?

A thousand times this. I have no doubt that in the beginning of Iron Man, Pepper was who Tony was calling.

In my head, Pepper ignores her own issues by running Tony's life, which is, let's face it, three full-time jobs.

(Randomly, I was rewatching IM2 and I noticed that when Tony made Pepper CEO, he made her CEO 'irrevocably'.)
