Speaking personally, I’ve run smack into the part of the story where watching each episode as it airs make me obsess over things that the next episode clarifies. Not like I'm going to stop, mind you, because delaying gratification is not something I do.

On that subject, props to [livejournal.com profile] errant_shadows who pretty much nailed every single one of Darcy’s reasons for not saying anything to Bing.

I really like the writers bringing up that the vlogs are how Lizzie (in-universe) processes what’s going on in her life. I hadn’t thought of it that way, but it’s CLEARLY true. The first episode of the vlog is explicitly this – it’s Lizzie getting the chance to actually argue with her mother in a way that SHE’D prefer – I can only imagine how frustrating it would be to try to talk about marriage ages and divorce rates to Mrs. Bennet directly.

"Bing, why do you let your sister and your best friend run your love life?" Or "Bing, are you aware that your sister and your best friend run your love life?" Or maybe, "Bing are you aware to the extent that your sister and your best friend run your love life... and maybe the rest of your life, I'm not sure."

Ha!

And yes, what they’re doing with Bing is kind of narratively forced but honestly, I think I would be bothered by it a lot less if I was zooming through the episodes, instead of having them doled out twice a week.

When we saw Lizzie standing next to Darcy I just about died. Her boots! The body language!

DOING COSTUME THEATER AS THEMSELVES, OH MY GOD I CAN’T EVEN.

What I love about Darcy talking her to about artificially provoking meaning in mass media is that this is Darcy speaking Lizzie’s language. This is Lizzie being able to have a conversation about her passion with someone who understands what she’s saying. This is the continuation of ‘at least Darcy isn’t afraid to have an opinion.’ This is Darcy saying to Lizzie, ‘what you love – it’s important and legit and I’m going to engage with you on this subject.’

This is Darcy speaking to Lizzie IN HER OWN MOTHER TONGUE.

Darcy doing costume theater with Lizzie (HE WENT TO GET A BOW TIE AND NEWSIE HAT, NEVER OVER IT) is him choosing to interact with Lizzie in the place/manner in which she has the most control and authority. It’s him baring his throat or coming to her on bended knee. IT’S AWESOME.

Also, I want to mention how huge a chance this shows in Lizzie perception of Darcy, that she asked him to help her. This is a woman who at one point didn’t want to comment on a popular song because she didn’t want him to judge her, and now she – I wouldn’t go so far as to say “feels comfortable” because she’s clearly not comfortable with Darcy yet (YET!) – trusts Darcy enough to ask him to participate in her vlog with premeditation.

"I'm a fan of her work" = Lizzie I adore everything about you.

I love how Darcy is just staring at Lizzie's mouth during that line reading.

I THINK “BING” REALLY WANTS “JANE” TO ASK HIM OUT ON A DATE. I THINK “BING” STILL HAS FEELING FOR “JANE” AND WANTS A SECOND CHANCE.

Oh my god watching Lizzie fall in love with Darcy is GLORIOUS.

I would LOVE to read that post.

I did write the post (http://intrikate88.livejournal.com/307039.html), although granted it was before we saw the extent to which Belle lost her mind and so I don't even know what to do now because I'm in some real depths of mourning over her losing so much of herself (she isn't loving books! she isn't solving problems with determination and research and good sense and compassion! WHERE IS MY DARLING GIRL.) and just.... I mean, okay. Belle is not in love with Gold right now because she doesn't all she knows is he's the jerk who showed up after her accident and is calling her by a name she doesn't know and is trying to make her remember stuff she can't and is shoving stuff that can't be true in her face. So if there's going to be a change in state there that does not involve a magic handwavy way of her getting all her memories back, then SHE has to get in touch with her own interests and values and he has to leave her alone and Gold decides that hey, having patience and compassion for people doesn't suck. Being brave with the little bit of choice that you have is possible. Sometimes answers can be found in books, not spells. Sometimes listening to others and respecting their voice is less lonely than spinning them a deal so you can stay apart and not take anything with strings attached.

Wow, that got long. I have a lot of ~feelings, okay.
