Everything Awful. Someone Do Something.
I was scrolling through tumblr and I came across this:

and I made this loud groan/shriek of unhappiness.
I wanted the opposite of this.
Also, tumblr's update is just as terrible and people were saying. It is awful and totally dragging safari down and on the plus side, this may make it really easy to stay OFF tumblr, which can only be good for my time management.

(If there has to be romance, why can't it be Thor/Jane with a delicious side of Sif/Loki's bruised ego? ;) Just saying, just saying.)

I ship everyone with everyone so I'm cool with anything...as long as the script and direction doesn't suck.

Nope, Jane/Thor is just... fact. And Sif/Awesomeness is fact. Sif/Like-I-Give-A-Shit. Sif/Maybe-I-Go-For-Ladies.
Sif and Thor are total bros, that is what I wanted, that is all I want for them.

It reminds me of a post I saw recently about Trek '09 and Spock/Uhura, and how one reason why it was so awesome is because the expectation is that Uhura is going to get together with Kirk. From the beginning, that's the expectation. Then it doesn't happen and neither Uhura or Spock are defined by their relationship to Kirk. That's what I wanted for Sif. I didn't want her to be defined by her relationship with Thor.
That's not to say that I don't think Thor/Sif could be done well and handled respectfully, I'm just not sure I trust the current production staff to look at them as equals.
Plus, I'm bitter because I can't help but think that if women had remained a fundamental part of the production team, this wouldn't be happening with Sif.

I understand that Sif/Thor is the awesomely epic thing in the comics, and I theoretically like it? I mean they're both big dumb Viking warriors (that aren't actually dumb) with dorky smiles. (Remember when Sif and the Warriors Three found Thor on Earth and then smiled and waved at him through the glass door? CHEERFUL WARRIOR BABIES!!)
So I sort of ship it, but I like them as friends. If Jane hadn't been established as a love interest, then that would be one thing. But she was! Please no love triangles. :(
Also, like. Given that Asgardians live so much longer than humans, I don't see why it's necessary to have a romantic aspect at this point in time. They could be COMRADES who will maybe make out in a century or two. Or they used to non-seriously date, currently enjoy their friendship, and who knows about the future?

Why can we not have awesome superhero movies without there being an underlying romantic plot? Do they really think that's the only way to get us ladies into theaters? by showing kick-ass fem-warriors "vulnerable side" as they make googly eyes at the lead?
