I knew I was going to dislike this issue of Hawkeye since the preview scans came out. And I did. The best part was the fact that Clint apparently has poker night with his ex-girlfriend, his ex-wife, and his soon-to-be-ex-girlfriend. The worst part was everything else.

  1. Natasha Romanov would not care if someone showed up at poker night fresh from a shoot-out. She dated Bucky Barnes. She's the fucking Black Widow. That's par for the course.

  2. The cheating. Look, I admit there is precedent for Clint being unfaithful, but I do not think that that's something to do done lightly. It felt like a cheap narrative choice to have Clint cheating on a girlfriend that we only met in this issue.

  3. I know Clint is the patron saint of bad ideas but seriously? What the fuck.

I did really enjoy Young Avengers. I loved the scene with Loki rescuing Billy and Teddy and I liked the way that going for adult help was denied them. Still want to slap Billy and I'm seriously annoyed that he's dragging Teddy through something hellish and is going to end up with his parents alive and well and his relationship with Teddy intact. Loki was perfect - he was successfully written as an entertaining dick.

ETA: on the subject of comics, I want to make sure my flist is aware of [livejournal.com profile] comicmasterpost which is a great way to get direct downloads of A FUCKTON of comics. Of particular relevant is the Black Widow Masterpost, which just had someone go in a clean up all the dead links. (If you're wondering where or with what to start with, I'd suggest The Name of The Rose which is all-around fabulous, and The Things They Say About Her, which I like despite the ugly art.)
