So, over on

het_reccers, blithers posted several always-a-girl!Stiles/Derek fics, which I read, and loved, and I decided to give Teen Wolf another shot.

So, random thoughts on the first season:

You know how everyone says Stiles is the heart of this show? Totally true. He gets most of the best lines, too.

I'm not yet sold on Lydia - she oozes artifice and I'm not sure yet if that is a conscious choice on the actress' part or just bad acting. I'm looking forward to season two, because I didn't like Caroline until the second season of TVD, so we'll see if I fall in love with Lydia during the whole Lydia/Peter arc. I DO know that I am totally not into Jackson/Lydia. I can't stand pairings where the girl dumbs herself down to keep the dude secure.

I love that Allison did not make a huge deal out of Lydia kissing Scott. I feel like on just about any other show that would have lead to a friendship break-up and Lydia having to grovel to get Allison's friendship back.

I still love Kate Argent and her unrepentant psychotic self. Also, Kate/Derek is one of the few bad girl/good boy pairings that I really viscerally ship.

I also love Allison Argent (so allerative! Like she's a super-heroine!) and her amazing, amazing hair.

Basically, Argent ladies for the win (we train our daughters to be leaders).

Just fact-checking, Stiles' mother died of cancer, right, and Scott's dad just left?

Okay, so, show of hands, how many of my flist watch this show and who intends to watch the third season?

Also, does anyone know of the really great Kate and Allison fanvid in which the vidder was like, 'I swear I didn't mean to make this seem inappropriate, it's the show's fault'?

I liked this show though I was sort of surprised after seeing the prominence of Derek/Stiles stuff in Fandom and then seeing the show.... Not so much that it is a pairing, but I thought they were the two main characters and, no! (well, sort of Stiles is but...)

I like all three of the main women (Kate, Allison, and Lydia) though Lydia really only grew on me in season two. I enjoyed season two a lot though. As with most shows, there are a few odd things, but I like they weren't afraid to go to dark places with women.

I'll watch season three, but probably as I have time and not as it comes out.

Yeah, I was most invested with the ladies arcs (like always...)

I got caught up at the end (or right after?) season 2, so I'll be watching "live" for the first time come season 3. I adore Stiles the mostest, I'm sold on Lydia but it's 60% because she's stupidly pretty and 40% because I always love the supposedly vapid mean girl who turns out to have the potential to be so much more. Never liked her and Jackson either, or Jackson at all period. And I hated Kate, way too cartoon-villainy, but I'm with ya on the super-hero status of Allison and it warms my old Buffy-loving heart to see a popular teen show with an awesome asskicking lady for this generation.

Oh, I am ALL about the Argent ladies. I thought mama!Argents death was fantastic, and I wish we'd seen more of her and papa!argent's relationship.

i used to have very strong feelings towards the show, that have somewhat died because of the fandom's craziness and some of the own creator's bullshit towards the fans, but i still have fondness for the show, and will certainly watch season three. i love the argents so fucking much, so i'm glad you like both allison and kate! they are the greatest.

I was utterly bored by the pilot. Is it worthwhile? Because I found nothing interesting in either the main character (sorry, I can't identify with floppy haired teen boys, never have), his BFF, or his transparent love interest.

Then again, I thought the first couple episodes of TVD were pretty lame too...

LOL I just realized that I used a Zuko icon in a post wherein I complained about floppy haired teen boys. Oops! I guess I should have said "floppy haired teen boys in high school." Put them in space or disgrace them in the eyes of their monarchist fathers or let their hand get cut off by their true love and I am completely able to sympathize. Just not over high school stuff.

Is it worthwhile?

For you, I think the answer would be no.

I didn't really like Lydia first, either, but then she grew on me and now I really like her!
