No matter my intentions, I cannot seem to make myself go to bed at a reasonable hour on Sunday nights. It just doesn't happen. Probably because I really don't want to go to work tomorrow.

You could use something like Cobian (
http://www.cobiansoft.com/cobianbackup.htm
) to back up and shut down (or just shut down) your computer at a certain day/time.
