Hit me with a fandom/character/pairing and I'll list my three most unpopular opinions about it.

1. Fandom - Supernatural

2. Character - Veronica Mars

3. Pairing - Thor/Sif

Supernatural:

Bela Talbot was an absolutely amazing character and her run on the show was criminally short. Also, killing Bela and Joanna Beth and Ellen was a predictable set of terrible narrative choices.

VM

I shipped Veronica 50x harder with Weevil than I did with Logan. *is burned at stake*

Thor/Sif:

Is not liking it an unpopular opinion?

One of the worst things about Supernatural is the lack of female characters - or the lack of women with any longevity on the show. It's like the writers can't bear to have their phallocentric sensibilities threatened by women in power. There are things that are all right about the show, but that's one of the main reasons I've never been more than an occasional viewer.

I could never really get into Veronica Mars. One of the ads orignially promoting the show called it, "Buffy with a brain," which I found incredibly offensive. Too much angst and teen drama, and I hate shows where the adults are even more immature than their bratty, entitled offspring. Some of the dialogue was clever, but I never really clicked with any of the characters.

I honestly don't really care either way about Thor/Sif. I like her well enough as a character and I'm hoping that she'll be better developed in the sequel, since apart from Natasha she's the only real warrior woman in the MCU. To be fair, I found Natalie Portman quite bland in the first one. I was disappointed with her performance - I've seen her in other things and I know she can do better - I didn't really buy her as an astrophysicist and her chemistry with Thor was rather lacklustre.

All things I hope will be addressed and improved upon in the upcoming movie, although Sif having an unrequited thing for Thor doesn't sound promising.

Pretty much. Plus Supernatural has an 'appease the slash fangirls sensibility' which means that when they DO write in female characters, they most vocal fans hate them,

So offensive. And way to insult the audience that you WANT watching the show, because honestly, I think there fans of one have a good chance of liking the other. I loved the first season of Veronica Mars, personally. Then it all went downhill.

The thought of a Sif/Thor/Jane love triangle makes me want to groan out loud.

More often than not I hate love triangles. Usually because one of the candidates is utterly bland and lacks any chemistry with their intended love interest, and their epicness is only used to detract from weaknesses in the plot. Or the alleged bad boy isn't really any worse than the other guy, though he's constantly portrayed as a villain, despite the fact that he often stands on the moral high ground. It's like the writers think that calling someone bad often enough will make the audience believe it, or flogging a dead relationship will make us want to ship it.

Or it's just a screwy use of an otherwise interesting character, and any sort of second rate romance will only detract from their potential.

I much prefer the slowburn of the love/hate relationship, if there's going to romance at all. That way, the chemistry develops over time and the payoff is more realistic - if it's done well.
