Okay, so I was wondering why Happy was watching Downton Abby.... and where the reference was to Happy being into Pepper was (because I heard it mentioned) BUT APPARENTLY THE SNIPPET OF DOWNTON ABBEY SHOWN IN IM3 WAS ABOUT A CHAUFFEUR PINING FOR SOMETHING HE THINKS HE CAN'T HAVE.

(I feel like the fact that Happy and Pepper were married in the comics makes it extra tragic.)

Ha I totally was wondering why they exclusively showed Sybil/Branson scenes and now it makes soo much more sense. Very subtle and nice nod to Pepper/Happy.

I find it a nice character note, though, that immediately after he wakes up, he looks at the awesome nurse and is all "..huh. Maybe." I mean, the nurse owes him nothing (except to check his vitals), but I like that he looks AWAY from the pining and to something that's in his sphere.

I love that show! And I loved it being included in the movie. When I read the tweet about it on tumblr, I realized the context finally, and it made sense.

Because in Downton Abbey, the chauffeur doesn't just pine for the rich Earl's daughter... he convinces her to run away to Ireland with him, and they elope.
