The Stupid Part Is Where I Expected Something Different
I was trolling through the Star Trek: Into Darkness Kink Meme, and there is only ONE (!) straight Spock/Uhura prompt.
And fandom, adding 'please have Spock/Uhura break up amicably' and 'Spock/Kirk (Uhura)' does not make me side eye you ANY LESS.
I just wanted Spock and Uhura being a badass functional established couple (in space!) Was I the only one who noticed and flailed over the moment in the moviewhere Uhura rose up on her tip-toes and presented her mouth to be kissed? And Spock obliged? Am I the only one who wants to read fic about what it's like when they fight? I'm dipping my toe into AO3, but I'm scared.

Spock/Kirk (Uhura)
Things like this are...ah. On the one hand, I'm glad people care enough about the lady characters not to just push them out of fandom entirely or cliff them or whatever, but it's annoying to be filtering the "X lady character" tag and be like, slash, slash, WHY IS SHE IN SO MANY SLASH STORIES DOES HER LIFE REVOLVE AROUND MAKING BOYS KISS? Which is why being able to exclude tags and categories is always fun.
I always feel really bratty about stuff like this, too. Like, I am not trying to say, "gay ships go away only ladies matter" or whatever it sounds like I am saying, it's just some fandoms seem to have been completely taken over by slash pairings.

*nods* And for me, a lot of it is, I just don't get the appeal of threesomes/moresomes AT ALL. Like, I often find it very unbelievable. Especially with moresomes. I'm like, 'EVERY ONE of these characters would not be okay with having this same kind of relationship! They just wouldn't.'
And saying that you want a couple to break up amicably does not negate the fact that you're breaking up a het couple to slash the dude with another dude. Which, honestly, fine if that floats your boat, but that's not what I'm interested in.
