The last several days have been fucking endless. And yes, I've been working extra because one of my coworkers was sick, but seriously. ENDLESS. So, meme.

gacked from [livejournal.com profile] qualapec:

ask me my "TOP 5" anything.

(Also, does anyone else feel like, when they're making posts or comments, they have to keep their gifs and their icons thematically or fandom-y consistent?)

Animated Fandoms:

Soul Eater
Young Justice
Avatar (it’s crazy but I love it. I mean, some of the fanworks are just mindblowing.)
Hellsing

That’s… really all that I can think of. The last episode(s) pretty much soured me on even the thought of Green Lantern.

In honour of your gif and today's fandom freakouts, your top 5 reasons why Natasha Romanoff is cooler than everyone.
Saturday, June 15th, 2013 05:49 am (UTC)
1.) Barring the Hulk, Natasha is the only person who really ‘wins’ her confrontation with Loki in The Avengers. Plus, her confrontation with Loki is 1000x awesomer than Hulk’s.

2.) In The Avengers, Clint Barton’s storylines serves Natasha Romanoff’s in a gender reversed version of the classic action movie plot. How awesome is that?

3.) Her fucking costume is the fucking best. It’s sexy, it’s practical, it’s badass. She doesn’t have a stupid hood or a mask or whatever, just sleek, sexy, ass-kicking lines. Stylistically, I have LONG been a fan of the classic catsuit, and I’m glad Nat was rocking it all through Avengers.

4.) She had the best scene in Iron Man 2. Worth the price of admission.

5.) Everything about Natasha is perfection.

Yes. And I loved how Hulk defeated Loki for comedic purposes.

2.) In The Avengers, Clint Barton’s storylines serves Natasha Romanoff’s in a gender reversed version of the classic action movie plot. How awesome is that?

I didn't think about the storyline that way before. You just improved my enjoyment of the movie by tenfold and I thoroughly enjoyed that movie.

4.) She had the best scene in Iron Man 2. Worth the price of admission.

That scene is my favourite action scene of all time.

That was one thing that really jumped out at me; how much Clint served NATASHA's story and character development.

We need more of that in fiction - men aiding women's story and character development.

Agreed! And I actually feel like Pacific Rim is another movie that does that, where Raleigh's arc really serves Mako's deeper story.

Totally! I mean, I know the story is technically written through Raleigh and is about him getting his own back, but he is also a a key stepping stone for Mako getting what she wants, which is to overcome her demons and also get some kickass revenge.

I wonder if the sequel will make Mako the central character? On Wikipedia they said that there might be one.

Ha, ha, I’m basically writing a five times fic with Clint that answers that question. And as I mentioned before, I think I’m kind of an odd duck in my Natasha-loving corner of the fandom where I read her as both pretty straight and her sex-kitten reputation as 80% fiction. (Meaning, she’s fucking fabulous at sex but doesn’t do many straight honey-pot ploys, because she has more effective and elegant ways to get the information she wants.

Or, to answer in another way, do you want to hear about the five times Natasha Romanoff had banging sex with Clint (MCU) or the five times Natasha Romanova had banging sex with James Barnes (comics)?

Top five vampires

Top five "I love this tv show/film universe/book/whatever, but I wouldn't touch the fandom with a ten foot pole".

Hmm, let's see. Caroline Forbes, Jessica Hamby, Ghastak (Kate Daniels verse), Ivy Tamwood, Spike.

Top five "I love this tv show/film universe/book/whatever, but I wouldn't touch the fandom with a ten foot pole".

Ha, ha, it’s cute how you think I was ever smart enough to stay away from a crazy fandom for a source material I loved.

How about, ‘five fandoms I was warned about but still participated in anyway’? The answer to that is:

Supernatural
Doctor Who
Avatar
Harry Potter (one of my first fandoms; I think I was too naïve to recognize most of the crazy and then wandered off before I learned how to recognize fannish crazy.)
Game of Thrones.

I'm a little surprised that Teen Wolf isn't on that list, but then those are some scary fandoms! Though with Harry Potter I think it has more to do with the ridiculous size of it.
Saturday, June 15th, 2013 05:24 am (UTC)
I think it was the combination of the size and that it was a lot of people's first fandoms/first internet fandoms, you know? Like, when I was first in the Harry Potter fandom, I'd only had high speed internet for about a year, if that.

And while Teen Wolf is notoriously consumed by Stiles/Derek, I tend to hang out in places (or at least, follow people on tumblr) who are all VERY pro-lady and especially pro-Argent.
