Apparently, despite the fact she's on record as saying that she fully supported the movie and that she was consulted heavily, she's now saying that she actually didn't have that much involvement. smh
Me too! I mean, I was "there" in fandom but I was about 13 and didn't really know what was going on. I was just in my happy Harry Potter corner reading After the End like a hungry wolf.
I don't know what you are talking about, Remus and Sirius are totally living together in a little cottage in a little English town and Sirius taught Ron to be a solicitor and they took down the Malfoy family forever and ever and sometimes they sit in the living room, smoking magical cigars that puff purple smoke while Remus and Hermione debate about theoretical magic.
I met her just after that, and she was lovely. And when I met her in real life in 2008, she remembered my name from 2003. And the event was six hours long, and when I got to the table, she was still talking to people like they were the first fans she'd seen all day. It was awesome.
I read her "Very Secret Diaries" or w/e they were called that she wrote for LOTR fandom back in... 2003? They were funny. The rest of the controversy I heard about through other sources and I never read her HP fic.
I never read "The Draco Trilogy," but I did read the diaries. It was right as I was entering into fandom, so I heard A LOT about it, because entering the HP fandom was my first real venture into being involved. But at the time, I remember hearing more about the "My Immortal" crap than "Trilogy," just because I was nowhere near the slash part of fandom. I was also very young (12/13), so I'm sure a lot of what was really happening went over my head.
Oh my god, it was just horrible. It was so horrible that people have actually debated whether the writer was just a troll and was seriously writing it JUST to be a troll.
I never read it, but I listened to someone read it, because it's hilarious. My friend sent me a video of this guy reading the entire thing and it was hilarious.

That's bad. And I just bed a dramatic reading was hilarious.
That is true of me as well, but I had read the even older Very Secret Diaries, SO. I think I just wasn't in the right section of fandom for it. I did know at least around the time of the first book, because I remember reading a sporking of the first chapter and understanding references.
