It can be really confusing when they are both on-panel in the bat suit. It helps after Bruce starts wearing the one with the little circle around the Bat, or if Dick has his escrima sticks, but there was definitely a fight scene in Batman & Robin where I spent several minutes trying to figure out what was happening to whom.
