HEY FLIST, comment with a trope and i will give you:

  • 1 book recs

  • 1 song/artist recs OR

  • 1 movie rec

for absolutely any genre, subject, trope, etc (“something that reminds me of a road trip” “something about the 1800s” “something with a king/lionheart dynamic” etc etc etc) you want.

And then I suggest you post this in your LJ (although it is not required) so I can ask you for recommendations.

Ah, the Slytherins. You are SO not the only person who has this complaint. It’s one of those times where I can see what happened – Rowling needed an antagonistic house for various plots and social dynamics to work, but then once things started having consequence in the larger world, she ended up with a fourth of the school who are just designated evil.

And I’m surprised to hear you say that fandom in general doesn’t get this – my corner of fandom was TOTALLY aware of how the slytherins were all tarred with the same brush to give Harry and co. antagonists.

I suppose it depended on when I was in the fandom too...the first time I heard any acknowledgment of this was in a Draco/Hermione story and I was like, "Finally!" I just didn't see it often. Honestly, I'm much happier knowing that I missed it rather than no one noticed. ^^
