these are sort of general teen wolf feelings, rather than specific scott feelings (most of which are MY SUNSHINE ALPHA WOLF PRINCE. clearly mrs mccall is a queen.): but it's interesting to see how parents and supernatural shenanigans mix (or don't) on the show. like allison, stiles and scott have really strong parental presences and their home life informs a lot about their character. whereas boyd and erica got little to nothing, and derek and isaac have really tragic backstories and the abscence of parental support is it's own thing. lydia is sort of half there. her mother's been around but isn't really a character, and honestly i hope they crack that open a little tiny bit. it would make sense if her parents were hands off, because she is so independent but at the same time, i'm glad we got at least one scene where she was discussing what had happened to her with her mother.

That's one of the things that I really like about TW, and I really feel it makes a lot of sense for Lydia to have a more distant relationship with her parents, considering we know that, to a certain extent, she was used a bit as a pawn in the divorce.
SCREAMS EVERYTHING SCOTT MCCALL KNOWS ABOUT BEING AN ALPHA HE LEARNED FROM HIS MOTHER
THIS FOREVER.
how he is an actual disney prince and that closing scene where he shuts the door in his father's face and the cutaway to his mother scott's relationship with his mother is one of my favorite things on the show because we don't see mothers being the defining role for a male lead character that often and i like how much it informs who scott is and what makes him such a good hero.
Agreed, agreed, agreed. I am both excited and SUPER NERVOUS for more with Daddy!Mccall because I really hope that the moral of that story is 'Melissa was 100% right, Scott is better off without his father' but I'm really concerned we're going to get a 'father and son reunited story instead.'
I may not be the biggest Scott McCall fan, but damn, do I love his relationships. Mommy McCall is one of the biggest badasses of the show, and Deacon IS SCOTT'S DAD. I'm getting weepy over those gifsets. I love Teen Wolf parents.
