This is a great meme that I gacked from philcoulson over on tumblr and you should all do it, too. As was pointed out when it was making the round on tumblr, one thing that's notable about this meme is that it's all general questions - nothing about OTPs or romantic relationships. (Of course, because it's me, there's a touch of pairing talk anyway, because that's how I roll.)
(Psst,
qualapec, this was the meme I was talking about.)
1. Favorite one-off episode of any series.
This is arguably the hardest question on this meme, fyi.
The pilot of Veronica Mars. The pilot of Wonderfalls. The “crime dog” episode of Wonderfalls. The paintball episode of community. The debate team episode of community. Teen Wolf’s “Motel California.” Parks and Rec’s “Flu Season” episode.
2. Favorite villain
Kate Argent and Loki.
3. Least favorite “main character” of a show
Aang. Aang. Aang. Aang.
Initially, I just considered him the ‘not my type’ character who was required for all these other characters to interact and have a goal.
By the end of the series I just wanted to set him on fire.
4. Favorite “sidekick”
(I just want to know that a "sidekick character" is, in my mind, a particular dynamic that is NOT the same thing as a secondary character.)
Stiles Stilinski
5. Character you love to hate.
I don’t love to hate characters. Either I’ll love them (villain or not) and I’ll want them to be happy or I’ll hate them, and want them off my screen.
6. Favorite friendship
Jessica Drew and Carol Danvers. Clint Barton and Kate Bishop. April Ludgate and Leslie Knope. Leslie Knope and Ann Perkins. Allison Argent and Lydia Martin. Will Scarlet and Alice. John Diggle and Felicity Smoak.
7. Friendship that never felt real to you.
Anything intended to be a friendship on The Vampire Diaries. Anything that was ever intended to be a friendship. Even the early days of Caroline and Tyer don’t count, because it was SO CLEAR that that relationship wasn’t platonic and that those two kids needed to bang.
(OT: The Hales is a family that never felt like a family to me, even a murderous family, and it's especially notable given how believable in good and bad ways, ever other family is on that show.)
8. Favorite wise-guy/jokester character
Hannibal King (Blade Trinity), Stiles Stilinksi, Veronica Mars, Felicity Smoak (it’s less deliberate with her, but I think she functions within the narrative the same way), Darcy Lewis.
9. Least favorite villain
Every villain with a dick over on Teen Wolf. All of you fuckers can go fucking fuck yourself. Especially you, Ducaelion and Peter.
The Joker. So done with you.
Sloane on Alias after season two.
10. Least favorite season long storyline
The last season or two of Alias had a pretty painful over-arching plot.
Season two of Veronica Mars.
11. Talk about a character with a bad story or character arc.
I’m pretty displeased with the basic, storyboard level choices made with Phil Coulson and Skye with no last name over on SHIELD.
I don’t understand why the writers want to make Sif part of a love triangle.
Everything that happened with Cece (which I heard about second hand) is terrible (New Girl).
I’m not looking forward to Rosa’s forthcoming and probably inescapable romantic arc with Boyle.
12. Character that just pisses you off no matter how much you try to like them.
I don’t try to like characters. Characters have to earn my love.
13. Plot device used too much in your favorite shows
Biological family on Once Upon A Time.
Someone Oliver Used To Know on Arrow.
14. Favorite character death scene
Jack Bristow: “You beat death Arvin. You couldn’t beat me.”
I am a fan of Allison’s mother’s suicide.
Talk to me in six months about Allison’s death and I’ll have an answer for you.
Prim’s death in Mockingjay.
I am getting retroactively found of Wally West's death, simply because Artemis got to outlive him and continue on as a hero.
15. An abandoned or unanswered plot line that will always bug you.
Dov’s maybe-requited love for Gail, which was summarily dropped as soon as he’d confessed his affection and then wrecked her personal life was a big reason why I didn’t continue with Rookie Blue.
