*grins* I still definitely prefer Zuko/Katara, but Haru is a fond second. (Let's see...I also have a weird backwards predilection for Jet/Katara specifically because it IS such a train wreck, and I wouldn't mind Zuko/Song at all.)

Chalk it up, I suppose, to my frustration with the fandom idea that any given person only falls in love ONCE. EVER. No, seriously, the minute that first kiss happens? That's it, man. There are no remarried widows in the world of anime. There are no exes except the abusive kind who were a big mistake anyway and provide angsty backstory. I mean it. >:[

No, no, no! All that is nonsense. Everybody knows that there's only ONE person you need in your life, and that is your TRUE LOVE. Once you find them, the world becomes filled with sunshine and rainbows, and you will never need anybody else ever again. They will fulfill ALL your emotional needs, and you will do EVERYTHING together, and the rest of the world can just go hang themselves until the relationship cracks under the ridiculous pressure to be everything to both of you and you have to go weeping back to your friends and family.

Silly rabbits. Social/familial networks are for single people! ♥

Incidentally, this is why it drives me crazy when people write Zutara and just drop Sokka, Aang, and Iroh by the wayside...or, for that matter, why the handling of Maiko in the show made me seethe on poor Ty Lee's behalf. And she still comes through in the end, after the way Mai has ignored her for fifteen episodes! Geesh, thanks a lot, Zuko Ono. >: [

*laughs* I think Mai's social skills were just fine in Season 2; mostly nonexistant. I liked her all prickly and apathetic and not especially giving a rip about anything, except Ty Lee and not making an ass of herself.

...then came Season 3, and suddenly there was this touchy-feely, I-would-DIE-for-my-LOVE, tell-me-how-you-feel-darling, I-want-a-cherry-tart-with-daisies pod person wearing Mai's skin. >: [

Personally, I loved Mai the way she was. The only True Neutral in the cast. I honestly wish they'd finish off the season with her realizing that Ty Lee is literally the only person who's ever unequivocably stuck by her, admitting that she didn't want to watch Zuko fry but realizes he's kinda, um, screwed her over repeatedly and is doing things she strongly disagrees with, and striking out into the wide world with Ty Lee to be amazing ninja assassins of awesome, or something. If only, if only. :/
