Let's Talk About Bugs For A Moment

Okay, before we delve into the newest chapters of Naruto, which I have been promised reachs whole new lows, some random thoughts:

I was thinking about Shino, and going, 'who, besides the OC who lives in my head and needs a name' could I pair with him? And then I was like - I know! Anko.' Can't you just see it?

Shino: *sad because he has creepy bloodline limit and very little chance of a girlfriend.*

Anko: You know, I don't mind bugs. And compared to the last guy I had sex with, you're normal!

Shino: Really?

Am I right or what?

Secondly, enderxenocide and I were talking about Kushina, and how sad we are that we don't know more about her.

One of us: Yeah, well, she probably died in the nine-tails attack, along with Rin and a whole bunch of other people.

*pause*

enderxenocide: I really hope Naruto never finds out about that.

Me: yeah, me too.

Now, on the new stuff:

Long, boring training sequence that it makes no sense Naruto could learn to do given that his chakra control is crap.

Oh, god, the matching BFF necklaces for Naruto and Sasuke? So flipping gay. I mean, really.

Yeah, Karin, except for the fact that Sasuke TOTALLY IS! Right, at this very moment, he's currently bending over for Madara and going, 'fuck me harder! No need to bring lube!'

Damn, I am enjoying watching Sasuke get pwned. That said, wow, racist. One of the few characters who isn't drawn to look white (or black, for that matter) is mocked for rapping, made a joke of, and then they have him steal Muhammad Ali's signature phrase.

Great job, Kishimoto, great job.

He might be racist but damn, do I love the eight-tails guy. He's just hilarious. And his fighting style is so over-the-top that it's sort of brilliant.

And in all honesty, I'm uncertain as to claims of racism because as you said, he doesn't look black. He just looks...tanned. I had him pegged as one of those guys.

[Edit]In retrospect that link may have been more appropriate than I was expecting, because the guy looks almost exactly like a buff version of the Ali G character pictured within.

I have to admit, Shino's bloodline limit freaked me the fuck out the first couple of times I've seen it, but that kind of makes him awesome, you know? And he's like Sai in the 'cool character... no idea what to write for you' sense.

I love Kushina too! I have read reset, and recently realized that that Kushina is basically canon, which just made my day.

I think it would be hilariously anti-climactic if Sasuke died fighting Eight-Tails, but since Kishimoto is in love with him he's probably going to pull a move like "Oh, that wasn't me, it was my magic eyes fucking with you!" *slapdown*


That though made me wince, which means it's going to be true. Damn it.

OOoh, Anko/Shino sounds fun especially since he seems to be heavily involved in rules and correct behavior and I'm pretty sure Anko would throw him into an amusing state of chaos
I've also always liked him with Hana (Kiba's sister) but then I enjoy the family dynamic flurry it would cause.

And therein lies my problem with Karin, I mean I like her she's cute and funny but did Kishi really need another device to bolster Sasuke's frelling awful life choices? I was good with the whole "my family is dead someone must pay" explanation already.

Can I ask, what is the point of Karin? As far as I can tell her only usefulness to Sasuke is special chakra-senses, and her only usefulness in the story in general is to drool over Sasuke. So I feel the need to ask, what's the point of having her at all?

I have wondered if, in regards to the Eight-Tails, something is gained in translation. I don't imagine Japan has nearly the degree of racial issues as the US; maybe we're seeing things the average Japanese person wouldn't even think about. Still, it's like he's decided that this arc is all about fun with stereotypes.

And I have no idea what's Karin's purpose is. To me, she screams of Kishimoto's typical fail with female characters i.e. he has no fucking idea what to do with them.

And it would be curious to see how the Eight-Tails reads to a japanese audience. Still, I he's so clearly drawn from Western sterotypes about black people, that the whole think kind of sets my back up.

I need to see Sasuke get pwned in this fight. I need to see him lose, and this new eight-tails guy triumph, or I might just kill something right at my desk. I will keep a hamster near my monitor so that, when the time comes and if Sasuke should triumph and take this new, super-cool (if undeniably a race stereotype) guy's life, I can kill the hamster. For several reasons:

(1) If Sasuke comes out of this triumphant, this wil be yet another victory for someone who hasn't been bitchslapped nearly enough. They took out the bitchslap guy, Itachi, and in fact seem to be redeeming him. (See? He wasn't actually owning Sasuke's wimpy butt. He was leading him on the road to glory. So it doesn't really count as Sasuke being defeated by an opponent, since Itachi wasn't his opponent! Sasuke is like Jesus!) The dude needs to be OWNED HARD, and while I'd like Sakura and Naruto to do it, preferably both at once, I kind of would like him to get his cocky butt handed to him by side characters, too. Like any other character in this manga!

(2) This eight tails guy is an innocent person who already had a screwed up life by getting a demon sealed inside him. Just wandering around, minding his own business. Doing nothing wrong, from what we've seen! And having Sasuke come over and kill him because of his selfish, dickheaded, 'let me follow blindly along some other person to achieve my own goals and ignore the fact that I have friends worried about me at home' plans? The plans that will ruin everything his friends stand for and love? UGH. Go, eight-tailed guy. Don't let Sasuke ruin your life because he's a *insert suitably insulting word here*.

(3) If Sasuke goes along with killing this guy just because Akatsuki's goal is taking all the tailed beasts, I feel like...I don't know, he's one step closer to trying to capture Naruto, his best friend and brother figure, so his 'allies' can rip his life out. And that's something I can't remotely forgive.

(4) Honestly, I just hate Sasuke and want to see him bleed. He's clearly Kishimotos favorite and has been from day one. So much that the worship just oozes from the pages.

What's unforgivable to me, about Sasuke, is that he never suffers, and his dumb moves make no sense.

He never has any real consequences and is MAKING SUCH STUPID MOVES.

And yeah, Naruto reeks of Sasuke-worship. It's incredibly frustrating to read, and I would love to see Sakura and Naruto taking turns to pwn him.

Yeah, exactly. I mean, I was a little disgusted with the whole 'Sasuke beating all those ninjas without killing them thing' but at least he had some ground to stand on. Now? He's just killing random people for no point.

STUPID STUPID MOVES. When he joined Orochimaru, I thought the next logical move in the story would be for him to be endangered because he signed up for an obvious psychopath who gave him a curse tattoo of death and clearly wants him for his body. But no, he just kills him and walks away, free! And then he fights Itachi and he kills the last bit of Orochimaru. Excuse me, what was the point of setting up the Sasuke in a Box arc and all the DANGER DANGER signs with Orochimaru if you were just going to have him offed like a pathetic bug? Fail.
