My brain is convinced that there's a version of Oedipus where  he hangs himself after learning his two sons are dead.

There's totally not. There's three separate versions of Oedipus, and that particular sequence occurs in none of them. I discovered this only after asking my mythology prof about it. Bet that made a great impression.

And I'm tested on this material tomorrow.
