Ah, the first of January.

The holidays are now officially over, and now it's time to regain some shelf space and organize my room. And other things. (I've already cut down on user pics so I have a chunk of empty spaces and organized my tags. Am I productive and using my time wisely, or what?)

The To-Do List is:

-organize and weed shelf of personal papers.

-clean out backpack that still hasn't been emptied since I got back from France

-weed my bookshelves so I once again have shelf space

-balance checkbook

-decide what to delete off my external harddrive (Stargates, your days are numbered.)

-put away photots (I have eight packets that need to be put away, non of which are room my trip to France.)

-write thank-you notes.

So, it's the perfect time for.......

A game of cliff, shag, or marry!

So, I have a new fandom, which means, new fic should be written and I just am realizing that the last two (only two, only one of which has been posted) have involved Zuko angsting. Which was fun and all, but Avatar is a big, big sandbox, and I'd like to play around in places besides Zuko's head (other parts of Zuko are up for grabs).

I had a fantastic day, and totally scored with presents.

And now that I have my computer and wi-fi (oh, glorious wi-fi! *snuggles*) and am in the same time-zone as the majority of my flist (or at least a hell of a lot closer than I was) it's time for a meme I've been wanting to do for awhile.

Can someone explain to me why when I want stand under soothing, heated water, mulling over meta and getting my hair clean and legs nicely shaven, there is no hot water, ever. Never have I taken so many cold showers as in Paris. (What's really galling is CEA made a big deal about how his apartment complex has 4 huge water heaters - you'll never not have hot water!)

Yet when I have five minutes before I rush out the door, there's enough hot water that when I accidentally lean against the pipes, I get a 1st degree burn?

So, is anyone else totally annoyed with what livejournal did with the customize journal section? It's fucking confusing and now I can't find the style I was going to switch my journal into. Thanks a whole hell of a lot.

(It probably doesn't help my mood that I had my midterm  review meeting where CEA tried to talk me out of having a problem with things that are problems.)

I realized on Saturday that in the single month I've been in France, I have (unwillingly) given my computer, the poor ill-used Angelina, the same amount of scratches that I had in the two YEARS since I first got her, as well as dented her wi-fi terminal (luckily unused, since I have built in wi-fi) and dropped her on the hardwood floor. (Which was one of those horrible accidents that happen when you take care putting your computer in you backpack, but fail to put backpack in the exact center of the bed, and are forced to watch from across the room when it flipped off. Goddamn water bottle.)  

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea culpa. 

God, I wish I know of some kind of computer spa to reward her with when I get back, and/or a way to take scratches off of the casing.

I'm posting a meme, because I really would like to talk about fun, fandom-y things, and I'm two inches away from writing a CAPLSOCK OF DOOM post about how frustrated I am with being sick, the internets, not being able to dowload the latest Bones or Heroes, and the fact that I have a presentation/essay in a week, and my 'partner' for said presentation has said nothing to me about it. (And yes, I could bring it up first, but I am not this boy's mother, and if I'm going to wind up doing everything myself - which you know I would be, not matter what - I'm going to spare myself the annoyence of having to breath the same air he does.)

Would You Like A Christmas Fic?

On Monday I fly out, (I think I'm a little in denial) and will have about 24 hours in airports and planes during which I have to amuse myself.

So, I'd love some prompts of things to write while I'm waiting. However, be warned, you will most likely not see any results from this until January, when I once again have free time. (Not to say I wouldn't be on lj and writing fic for three months, because I'm addicted and will undoubtedly be popping in and out, but just that I doubt I'll have much time to transfer things from longhand to typed up and postable.)
