During a recent meme, I ended up asking qualapec for pairings from the MCU that she’d erase from fandom if she could. And then I thought, ‘damn, that would make a great meme.’

If you were an all-powerful djinni and could erase five pairings from canon and fandom both (ANY PAIRINGS), which pairings would you choose and why?

Katara/Aang, Avatar.

FOREVER BITTER, OH MY GOD. Like, I was never going to love this pairing but I could have handled if they had hadn’t explicitly shown Katara NOT WANTING TO KISS OR DATE AANG and VERBALLY, OUT LOUD WITH HER WORDS telling Aang no, and then have her WORDLESSLY neck with him at the end of the series. Just fuck you, writers, fuck you. Way to reduce a vibrant, subversive, MOUTHY character to a prize for the hero.

Stiles/Derek, Teen Wolf.

Look, I’m not going to lie, if EITHER ONE of these characters were a girl, I’d be into it. (In fact…) But this pairing is just SO MASSIVE and the fandom itself is not that big. I don’t think I’ve EVER been in a fandom where one pairing SO DOMINATES the entire fandom. Seriously, it’s like 99% Stiles/Derek 1% everything else. (Is Aeryn/John like this in Farscape?)

Lydia/Jackson, Teen Wolf.

If you want to sell me on a couple so in love that the female can bring the male back from crazytown, or whatever, do. fucking. not. have the dude break up with his long-time girlfriend in a totally callous, public way and then treat her like shit in a very threatening, dominating way before hand.

Loki/Natasha or Loki/Clint, The Avengers.

I’ve read a couple of upsetting straight-up noncons for these pairings (my own fault; I can’t say I wasn’t warned) that made me VERY upset and the thought of reading anything vaguely consensual is even worse (and egregiously out of character, imho).

Belle/Rumpelstiltskin, Once Upon A Time

I've written enough about why I don't like this pairing, I think, so let me tell you an anecdote. Due to my intense love of this pairing post-Skin Deep and tumblr being the fucking worst place in the world to post fic to, Belle/Rumpelstiltskin remained on of my top tags until I finally lost my patience and went into diigo and deleted about just everything that I had tagged with that pairing name. Bye, bye, fic I will never re-read!

I Think The Pot's Calling The Kettle Psychotic

So I was trolling through the 'Kate Argent' tag on tumblr and while I did net myself some lovely graphics, I also came across the 'Kate's oh my god so much worse than Peter' and 'it's not sexism that I think Peter is awesome and Kate sux' and 'Derek Hale I want to heal your pain with my vagina' sections which is like, lol, sweeties, no.

Both Peter and Kate are psychotic, manipulative, murder innocents, have sexually inappropriate relationships with underage teenagers, and are snarky.

It doesn't matter how much you compare Peter to Kate, they're both going to be crazy murderers at the end of the day.

(Kate, however, is invested in teaching her niece how to protect herself (and also hunt) the big bad things in the dark, while Peter killed his niece to be more powerful.

I am just saying.)
