Took the train back to college.

Everything was fine, and the train even got in early, but I have to admit, I am totally spoiled from having a car (because of mom's car breaking down, I don't have a car at the moment, although that might change tomorrow). See, I don't like, you know, waiting (especially when it's cold and I forgot my jacket) and I took my huge suitcase because, you know, I thought that I would be driving back, and I just get so impatient when I have to, like, wait while other people get off the bus and how the bus doesn't deposit me directly at my front door.

Also, did I completely miss something while not reading Bleach, but do Ishida and Orihime like each other? Interact at all? (Context is #119)

Yeah, I can get where people get Ishida liking Orihime (frankly, I think he falls for anything resembling a Damsel in Distress, even if it isn't one, but that's just me) but her Ichigo-vision has no room for him. They're 15 and Tite Kubo isn't even hinting at any True Loves in most cases, so I can see them if she ever gets over the Ichigo-vision, but the way shippers like that go over it just makes me sigh. At best.

If Kubo ever actually does any Official Pairings, I figure it'll probably be Renji/Rukia and Ichigo/Orihime (I think he's really written himself out of and Ichigo/Rukia, by the latest chapters). I admit, I am fairly fond of those pairings as I have a thing for unrequitted crushes, but I doubt anything will ever happen with them (or anyone else) in the series. But, seriously, there's nothing in the book to really indicate that anyone will end up with anyone.

Bleach is interesting in how amazingly gen it is. Aside from Orihime and Renji's crushes, there's is nothing you can justifiably say "This! This is romantic!" And you could probably argue on the Renji front if you wanted to. Even Soi Fong-to-Yoruichi can be explained as hero worship (though...err...I tend to think it's romantic, but it isn't officially romantic.) There are lots of relationships of every gender combination where a romantic interpretation makes perfect sense, but it doesn't actually make more sense than a non-romantic interpretation.

and yet...the fandom is obsessed with what pairing is the canon pairing, and saying that such-and-such pairing is canon.

ETA: *reads ETA* I have mixed feelings on that, really. On a lot of levels, it does make sense. And yet, even if it is romantic, I don't think it could ever be worked out in a satisfactory way for that context.

Oh, I totally think Soi Fong is gay for Yoruichi. There's even a long discussion about that shipwar in my post from Saturday. (We decided threesome was the way to go.) But I can see the argument that she isn't. And I can see the argument both ways for for Yoruichi/Urahara.

I like Bleach's gen-ness, and how we're ACTIVELY encouraged with everything, I just wish the fandom would realize that TK is just toying with us.
