I'll believe Kakashi is dead after Sakura does the autopsy.
I'm not going to go into story telling reasons why his death would suck and be pointless, or economic reasons why his death would suck and be pointless, because I did all that last week.
Smart people have argued for him dying from a storytelling point of view, and while I disagree, they had a point. Debating what is going to happen, however, is pointles, because frankly, Kishimoto is not a good enough storyteller to predict, imho.
I will add, however, that the timing? Going on hiatus right after this chapter? Suspicious as hell.
And Kakashi's "death"? Looks remarkably like Chouji's, Neji's, and Sakura.
That said, I am so glad that
enderxenocide gently broke the news to me a couple days ago and that Obama won this Tuesday. Otherwise I would not be so very zen.

The only redeeming thing about this chapter, for me, was that glimpse we get of Konan. I don't know why, it's only a couple of panels. I think I'm turning into a Konan fangirl...
I feel like the only plot-moving thing that happened this chapter was with Danzou, and... well, it's interesting in the sense that it's a counterpoint to the force trying to destroy Konoha from without, but the "I will rub this leader out so I can take his/her spot" cliche isn't quite exciting enough for me to go "Oooh, intrigue!" I was hoping for better.

This is why one should never piss off fans LOL
On a realistic (lol) note, I agree with your first statement, except I'll believe it too if Tsunade did the autopsy instead. Or better yet, there will be no autopsy at all LOL

Or, wait, did he vanish Pein with his sharingan, thus allowing Chouji to escape? Is that what happened?

On the plus side, this chapter got rid of my doubts about Kakashi dying. You're right in that it reads too much like supposed death scenes that have been done before...and I really REALLY would like Sakura to be the first one on the scene, considering that Chouji's going to find Tsunade at the hospital and that's where she happens to be...

Yeah, it all happened too fast to get the emotion that I think Kishimoto was aiming for. Although frankly, I would be pleased as punch if Ino was next, just because I'd like to see more of her.

That would be so delightful, wouldn't it?
