redbrunja: (No Man's Daughter)

MAKA-CHOP!

Secret 129:

You said it yourself - you get alone fine with your dad. Bully for you. But as you so unimaginative that you don't understand exactly why Maka is so dismissive of her father? The father who REPEATEDLY cheated on her mother, caused her parents to get a divorce, and has the cat-skank he pays to flirt with him buy Maka presents? (And that's only what actually happens, not what it looks like, aka buying his daughter sexy lingerie and telling her to 'have fun.' I can only dream that she had fuck-you-daddy-issues sex with Soul as vengeance.)

Yeah, I'd be dismissive too.

Death Scythe made that damn bed and he can fucking well lie among the sheets and blankets of his daughters contempt.

Frankly, I think she treats him just fine, all things considered. She still has good memories of her dad that she'll talk about and while she isn't nice to him, she's not excessively mean, especially considering the way that he hovers.

I have no opinion on Ichigo, but think the secret poster has a much better case to make there, and with the whole family, frankly.

Also, secret 166 is right on the money. Chrona didn't affect me that strongly but I was definitively getting mushy.

Well, I would certainly think so. But I possess brains and empathy, which this jackass apparently lacks in spades.

I assumed the Soul Eater part of the secret was ridiculous when I saw the Bleach part. Is it that hard to notice that when Ichigo "doesn't appreciate" Isshin, he's normally reacting to some absurd thing Isshin's said or done?

I mean, I do think Isshina gets a BIT of a hard wrap - he he wants to take his kids to watch fireworks and they mock, but on the whole, he sets himself up for it.

And honestly, I think Death Scythe deserves MUCH WORSE than he gets.

The Kurosaki family acts like what they are: a father who tries to hard and overcompensates for his wife being gone, resulting in his kids always being in "dad's trying too hard" mode. It's not that they don't appreciate him, it's that they don't know if "let's go to see fireworks" means "let's go to the park" or "lets all wear the gaudiest yukatas known to man and erect a 40 foot podium in the middle so we can see, and ask every cute girl we see if she wants to date Ichigo."

Good point.

Also, I just came across the great Rukia vs Orihime divide in the fandom. Someone commented to the effect of, 'I've never like Orihime because she's a ditzily in love with Ichigo... plus I like Rukia' to which I responded. 'That's just her personality. Why is liking her and liking Rukia mutually exclusive?'

[identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com 2008-12-04 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
I pretend the divide doesn't exist and people have the brains to realize you can like two female characters at once, even if they're totally different, or one likes the guy you ship the other with. (They manage it with guys, after all...)

Ignoring the fandom helps with that.

I haven't even considered looking at Pushing Daisies's fandom for the same reason. Aside from the one fandomsecrets secret, I haven't heard much about Chuck vs Olive, but I don't trust fandom enough to find out.

Yes.

And randomly, what is up with Chucks hair in the last two episodes? (eps 2 and 3) it looks like she forgot conditioner.

I don't remember. IIRC, they seemed to be experimenting with her look early in the season. I think they did with olive's look a bit, too, but not as noticably.
