In Iran "Pretty" Is Sometimes The Protest

This young woman on the right? Is risking her life not only for protesting the fraudulent Iranian election but for wearing that shade of nail polish in public.

i don't mean to detract from the point of this post, but that woman right next to the woman with the nail polish? SMOKIN'.

actually, they're all smokin'. i wish that this could become part of the standard when the general population thinks about feminism.

They are so brave, I can hardly believe it. Amazing.

And who knew something with a ridiculous name like "twitter" would become so vital for information during a revolution?

They really are amazing. I've been keeping tabs on the news and the only thing I can think of each time is... wow.

I heard one quote that just about broke my heart, which was a woman saying, "I'm not afraid to die - I'm afraid I'll die and my daughter will still not be free."

I've been meaning to write a huge post on the protests. Women. Their role. Feminism.

It's just so amazing and inspiring. They are so strong.

They truly are. I've been loving the photos that I've seen so far.

Also, besides the things you've mentioned, there is the huge importance of the role of the internet. We're all in this together.

*admires her and prays for her safety*

I hope to God that this is the beginning of the end of a bad era.

Yes, it's exactly like Persepolis - the author of that was talking about growing up in Iran. What's truly a shame is that these things are still going on - I can't imagine how demoralizing it must be for the author to have gone through all that in her childhood and still see it happening all over again.

When I paint my nails this week or the next, I'm gonna do it for her.

Rock on.
