I'm tempted to give The Sarah Connor Chronicles another try, partially because it's exactly the kind of show I like on paper and mainly because the icons are amazing.

My question, wise flist: is there a particular point where it gets really good and/or if you make it there and don't feel the love, you never will?

I always seemed to like it or not like it from one episode to the next. If you sat down and watched it you could probably get into it. Most of the times when I tried to watch it I'd be paying attention to other things so I couldn't fully enjoy it. Do you know if they've cancelled the show or not?

Yeah, they cancelled it.

See, the fact that nothing happened to get you to stop what you were previously paying attention to and watch says something right there, imho.

I was interested in the show since the beginning, so I'm no help at pinpointing a moment. But something to keep in mind is that while TSCC is based on an action scifi movie franchise and does have actiony moments, it's not a fast-paced show. What I mean is that it's not so much about war and conflict and Dooms Day, so much as the cold war and preparation to Dooms Day and long periods of waiting with not so unexpected bursts of violence. TSCC focuses on character reaction and exploration to the pressures of the coming robot apocalypse, and takes an elliptical approach to the themes and issues and the nature of AI and tech. Each episode kind of builds off each other. Oh, and there are moments, especially in S2 where the show can feel like it's spinning its wheels; sometimes what looks like aimlessness or inconsistency ends up paying off at a later point, and sometimes it really is aimlessness.

Okay, thanks for your input.

And it might be that it's a too slow paced show for me at the moment - I might want to give it a try this winter.

*grins* If you want something else robot-related to fill your time, I think I recommended The Zeta Project a while back?

(If I didn't, the Cliff Notes are: a whip-smart early-2000s Warner Brothers cartoon in which a runaway teenaged cynic falls in with an escaped government assassin android-turned-pacifist naif, helps it search for its original creator and survive repeated government attempts to snuff it/reclaim it, and cheerfully milks it for illegal cash, all the while unwittingly developing a surprisingly close bond with it.)

Yup. Thought this was a good moment to bring it up again. It's aimed at the same age group as Avatar (10 and very definitely UP), and although the animation isn't as good, the writing is just as snarky, self-aware, hilarious, and occasionally touching. Also, it's completely uploaded for viewing on Veoh (http://www.veoh.com/search/videos/q/project+zeta#watch%3Dv650229FMPpy3xW).

If you do watch it, I'd love to know what you think--especially your thoughts on Ro. ♥

Well, since I have three series that I'd like to knock off before the end of the summer, it's not like I lack for entertainment options... I was mainly being seduced by the icons.

However, you've talked about that series before, and it seems RIGHT up my alley.

The episodes are now bookmarked. ^_^
