So, lj has issued an apology, and while I have my problems with it and agree with Perverted-Justice, lj did come out and say that they'd screwed the pooch. I can only hope they now start correcting the mistakes that they've made over the past week.

*sigh* You know, I was really looking forward to renewing my lj subscription and getting more user pics next month, and now I'm really not.

And I know how ostrich-like this sounds, but I'd like it if fandom and lj could return to being my happy place, instead of another instance of people trying to muzzle each other for being different.

I'm pretty sure you're not alone. The vast majority of us, I think, would like fandom to be our happy place.

As it should be. If I wanted stress and censorship, I'd spent more time in the real world. ^_^

Fandom should be were I get to relax and enjoy.

They apologized, they're un-banning all fandom-related journals and comms, I think they're doing well.

And I completely get what you're saying about just wanting to curl up and discuss things of little importaince like we used to.

Yep, I'm really glad to see that lj's on the right track. (imho)

So, um Gil? Totally hot right?
Friday, June 1st, 2007 04:29 pm (UTC)
Totally hot. Droolworthy, and his rant for Agatha's sake was swoonworthy.
Friday, June 1st, 2007 05:06 pm (UTC)
And reviving her parents? Best present ever.
Friday, June 1st, 2007 07:42 pm (UTC)
Even more awesome because he did it when he thought she was dead, and thus had absolutely no thought toward earning brownie points. Agatha might even worry that they're not really Adam and Lilith, since they'll probably do a 180 on their opinion of Gil. That and the fact that Adam can talk and Lilith's eye is probably going to be fixed.
Saturday, June 2nd, 2007 02:49 am (UTC)
Yep, the fact he was doing it in memory of her is just too awesome for words.

Also, the eye and the voice were injuries from the battle with Klaus, right? *is pretty sure they were undamaged before*
Saturday, June 2nd, 2007 01:51 pm (UTC)
No, in the early 101 pages you'll note that Lilith's eyes are different sizes (but she wears glasses to make them look normal), and Adam doesn't talk (which Agatha pointed out a few pages back in Advanced). However, Gil only knows of them from the stories, so he'd assume they were just injuries sustained in the fight and fixed them.

Another bit that could get weird is how the Secret Blueprints mention that Adam and Lilith, despite being such a sweet married couple and awesome parents, were not built to have children of their own. . .

I really need to catch up with Girl Genius/give it a reread. Adam doesn't talk? I could swear I remember him and Lilith talking.

Yeah, I can totally see Gil making them better than they were before.

You know, I certainly hope it was just that they were sterile, not they we couldn't have naughty married fun.

They're good with the nonverbal communication, no question there, so there've been "conversations", though Adam can't really speak.

I'm pretty sure it's sterile. But it could still be weird; after they were fully repaired and going about their usual *ahem* routine, Lilith suddenly finds herself pregnant. . .

Write it! Because that sounds so hilarious.
Sunday, June 3rd, 2007 02:54 pm (UTC)
And then there's the awesome mythological background, being as in the old stories, Lilith was Adam's first wife, created from clay as he was (thus, the Clays), and it's interesting to note that pretty much every reference to her includes the point that Lilith liked to top during sex. Given that this is written by the author of Xxxenophile, I'm pretty damn sure Phil knew about that point when he named them.

. . . ohgod. For the sake of my brain, I'm gonna have to decide here and now that it won't be a smutfic.
Monday, June 4th, 2007 04:38 am (UTC)
Oh come on, you know it would be the best smut fic ever. (write it, write it!)

The Lilith and Adam connection clicked in my head, but I didn't realize how apropos their surname was.

And come on. You know you want to write Lilith topping fic.
Monday, June 4th, 2007 02:26 pm (UTC)
There's also the part where I have an inability to write smutfic. Cool in concept, but I doubt I could execute it.
Monday, June 4th, 2007 07:06 pm (UTC)
Really? You can't write smut? *ponders*

*inches away from the plot bunny*
Monday, June 4th, 2007 07:57 pm (UTC)
Yeah. One of the worst drawbacks of having this many social disorders -- no first-hand experiance to help with figuring out how to write smut scenes. Research is fine and dandy for the technical details, but it gets tricky when you get into emotions and specific reactions and all that jazz.

I have gotten a good start on a non-smut approach to the concept, though! But my USB port died, so I'll need to get my laptop to a wireless area to upload it.

Well, personally, I think a good idea of the basic slot A tab B stuff + a good imagination + ability to write = a good sex scene. I always hate those people who are like, 'you've had to have sex to write it' because (imho) it's just not true.

Well, whenever you get it uploaded I'd be interested.
Wednesday, June 6th, 2007 11:25 am (UTC)
Possibly. But I guess I still need to stretch my imagination muscles in that direction a bit more; it's still a challange for me.
Wednesday, June 6th, 2007 03:49 pm (UTC)
Well, streching your limits is always good (except when it's not.) It'd fun if you go, I hey I think I'm going to try and write [blank] just to see if I can!
Wednesday, June 6th, 2007 06:54 pm (UTC)
True. Currently I'm at the stage of 'Flail' when it comes to the thought of writing it. I'll try after I've taken a more relaxed attitude, perhaps.

And "Try to write just to see if I can", for me, usually winds up involving Care Bears or a fandom no one else has ever thought to write in in some way.
Wednesday, June 6th, 2007 08:40 pm (UTC)
Yeah, wait until it's less *flial* and more, I'd like to try this....

Also, 1 sentence fics are great for that because it's one sentance! You can be vague and hot and dirty all at once!

Speaking of, I read that care bears S&M fic you linked a long time back. I was disturbed.
Wednesday, June 6th, 2007 09:53 pm (UTC)
*nod* I'll write it when I'm ready to. A one-sentence fic might work. . . gotta work out just the right sentence, though.

That's the average reaction to Care Bears BDSM. "AGH! My childhood!" and "That was disturbingly well-researched" seem to be the most popular two.
