I am not happy that the mangaka finally decides to do something with Rinka..... and instead of doing something with her yankee past or her obsession with Adachi........ Rinka starts crushing on Shinagawa and not beating up punks who are hassling her.

THIS. I just caught up with Yankee-kun yesterday and read 20 chapters in one go, and I was BAFFLED as to what was going on with Rinka, especially during the fight scenes. She's a YANKEE, or a former one anyway, and even the reformed Adachi kicks ass every once in a while, so why can't she? And Shinagawa/anyone but Adachi is like 'woah no' to me, so that didn't help my reaction to the reveal either. :| (At least we got some CANON Shinagawa/Adachi scenes, though. Those made my day~)

(Also, am I the only one who got a bunch of Izumi/Rinka vibes, particularly in chapter 56?)

I know! And Adachi is who they pull out to do the epic ass kicking! ...until the last couple episodes, when it become all about teh boiz and their manliness.

But Rinka not kicking ass makes NO sense since she joined that high school specifically to watch Adachi's back.

Shinagawa/anyone but Adachi is like 'woah no' to me, so that didn't help my reaction to the reveal either. :|

Thank god we didn't get any hint of Shinagawa recpriocating,or the above post would have had A LOT more obscenity.

And I didn't notice the Izumi/Rinka vibes, but that doesn't mean they weren't there.

It was like the mangaka thought of the worst, most out of character thing that he could do with her character... and then did it.

Argh, this is fail. Well until I hear that things are taking a turn for the better, I don't think I'll be catching up on Yankee-Megane, at least for now. :(

Yeah, I'm not happy with Rinka just being the appointed Damsel-In-Distress of the gang, especially given her background and her initial behavior when she was introduced. I'm okay with the crushing on Shinagawa since that part seemed to have been hinted at earlier on but I'm continuously disappointed to see her being hassled by guys and not shown fighting back with ex-yankee moves a la Adachi. :P

Yep! Crushing on Shinagawa is one thing (let's face it, he's hot and has badass points) but her acting all damsel-y... it's ooc and it sucks.
