Never Fucking Again
I am never going to be in Canada on the 25th of December ever, ever again.
Five years ago as a gift to the family (cousins, aunts, uncles, et) my grandmother rented a ski lodge up in the Canadian Rockies. This required my mother and I to get up hellishly early on Christmas morning to get there, and on the last night of the trip 70% of my family got violently ill, including me.
This year, my mom was burning out after a long summer and some family drama, and decided we'd skip the extended family gathering on Christmas Eve and go to Victoria for a day (the 24-25).
Now, Saturday I pulled a muscle in my back and it's been getting better relatively quickly.
Well, in the wee hours of this morning, my back spasmed. So badly that my moans and swearing woke mom up. So badly that we got a taxi to the hospital (the taxi driver, btw, informed me that it was my karma for me to be in pain). It would have cost $700 dollars to see a doctor, however the triage nurse gave me tylenol and ibuprofen, which, combined with the ginger ale made my world bearable.
After two hours of sleep, we took the first ferry home.
I feel fine now, but fuck. Moral of the story: for the REST OF MY ENTIRE LIFE I am going to avoid Canada on 25th LIKE THE FUCKING PLAGUE.

Last year, in fact, during Christmas, one of my former room mates was in a taxi when it rear ended a van and drove off. Oh, and lets not forget the fact that sometimes the taxi's don't show up at all. I have mixed feelings about the place.

Public transit is quite horrible in Vic.

And the taxi driver DOES understand that, for it to be karma, you would've had to have done something to deserve it. Since he doesn't know you, that is not only a horribly irrational statement, but one of the worst insults I've ever heard. Sorry he was a douche.

Me too. But honestly, I was preoccupied with other things. My mother was about to say something and I just went 'let it go.' I could care less what a taxi driver I'm going to be in contact with for fifteen minutes thinks.

I assure you that most of the time, it's not that bad up here. *snugs gently* Hope you feel better.

Sorry that the taxi driver was such a douche bag. *glares at driver*
Hope you had a great Christmas! (On a side note, one of my best friends gave me the first season of True Blood on DVD and I've been watching it like crazy....gah, that show is addicting.)

And everyone else was nice, so that helped.
I'm glad you're enjoying True Blood.
