I'm watching this cat (Sophie) while her owner's out of town, and she has the exact same personality as Sanzo. Suffice it to say, I'm already bleeding. (Yep, she scratched me twice.)
Seriously, for 6 years I didn't cat-sit for Sophie because the last time I did she was outside most of the time, and when I called her she wouldn't come, until I hadn't seen her for two days, and then I'd be mentally prepping what I'd tell her owner and how much groveling I would be doing for having her cat disappear on my watch when she'd mosey back.
And when she scratched me today, I was trying to reach the mats between her forelegs so she wouldn't get heavy mats and have her skin irritated. That's gratitude for you. Next time I try it, I'm bringing my mother for reinforcements.

Whine/meows like she's injured and growls are how she lets me know that she wants me to pet her.
