Oh, I completely agree. Veganism is actually really unhealthy, and most of the people who choose to follow that lifestyle are NOT doing it for they're heath. And often come with an extra bonus of self-righteous.
Actually, the best reason to be vegan I ever heard was from the book Vegan Virgin Valentine. The main character decided to go vegan because she was obsessing about her boyfriend, and being vegan requires so much thought and paying attention to what you eat and planning that she knew she couldn't be vegan and obsess about her ex-boy at the same time.
And then when she truly gets over him there is a triumphant two-cheese grilled cheese sandwich.
